Position Responsibilities: Assists with breastfeeding, adheres to infant abduction policy, and provides safe newborn transitional care. Assesses neonates at delivery, performs neonatal resuscitation, and completes initial newborn assessments on arrival. Performs comprehensive head-to-toe assessments on obstetrical patients and conducts system reassessments each shift. Manages labor patients and assists during epidural anesthesia. Circulates in the operating room and manages patients in the post-anesthesia recovery area. Maintains NPR and fetal monitoring competencies every two years. Obtains, documents, and updates nursing admission assessments and interdisciplinary plans of care. Prioritizes patient care based on problem lists and responds appropriately to diagnostic findings. Assesses family education and psychosocial needs daily across age, growth, and developmental stages. Safely initiates and documents emergency interventions, IV therapy, medication administration, and patient teaching. Demonstrates safe use of unit-specific equipment and follows all standard precautions and aseptic techniques. Performs dressing changes, specimen collection, glucose monitoring, urinary catheter insertion, and oxygen therapy. Reports abnormal findings immediately and coordinates efficient patient transfers with complete documentation.
