About the Role:
The Fulltime Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in Endocrinology and Internal Medicine at Bloomington Medical Services (BMS01) plays a critical role in delivering comprehensive patient care within a specialized clinical setting. This position focuses on supporting physicians and healthcare providers by performing clinical and administrative tasks that ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality care. The role involves direct patient interaction, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, obtaining prior authorizations using several websites/portals, administering medications as directed, and assisting with diagnostic procedures related to endocrine and internal medicine conditions. The successful candidate will contribute to patient education, helping individuals understand their treatment plans and manage chronic conditions such as diabetes and thyroid disorders. Ultimately, this position is essential in promoting patient health outcomes through meticulous clinical support and compassionate care coordination within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current and valid LPN or CMA certification/license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of 1 year clinical experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in endocrinology, internal medicine, or a related specialty.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard clinical documentation.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working specifically in endocrinology or internal medicine clinics.
- Advanced certifications related to diabetes education or chronic disease management.
- Familiarity with specialized diagnostic equipment used in endocrine testing.
- Additional training in patient education and counseling techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex patient cases and coordinate multidisciplinary care.
Responsibilities:
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures specific to endocrinology and internal medicine.
- Obtain and record patient vital signs, medical histories, and medication lists accurately.
- Administer medications and injections as prescribed and monitor patient responses.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and sterile.
- Coordinate patient scheduling, follow-up appointments, and referrals to specialists as needed.
- Educate patients on disease management, medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications relevant to endocrine and internal medicine conditions.
- Document patient interactions and clinical data thoroughly in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care plans.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, safety protocols, and infection control standards.
