Job Responsibilities

  • Working in contract role in a local acute facility for a designated time period (usually 10-15 weeks)
  • Providing effective patient care within your scope of practice as a telemetry nurse
  • Operating EKG machines and related equipment to monitor and record cardiac function
  • Assisting with stress tests and other diagnostic testing
  • Conducting emergency care for patients suffering from a cardiac event or other serious medical condition
  • Administering medications as prescribed and providing nursing interventions in coordination with the clinical team
  • Analyzing vital signs, test results, and patient histories to determine baselines and abnormalities
  • Maintaining accurate records of test results, nursing interventions, and patient histories
  • Communicating with patients and their loved ones about cardiac health and continuity of care
  • Overseeing nursing assistants, telemetry technicians, and other support staff
  • Adhering to all facility policies and procedures and complying with current nursing standards of care
  • Being accountable to follow and adhere to patient care plans

Qualifications and Skills

  • Current Maryland state Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • At least 8 months experience as a Telemetry RN
  • Successful graduation from an approved nursing program (BSN preferred)
  • BLS and ACLS training certification (from an approved provider)
  • Immunizations as needed by facilities
  • Background check completion
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
