Cary Medical Center is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our Acute Care Unit.

In this role, you’ll manage incoming information via telephone, call bell, and direct conversation — ensuring communication flows smoothly and patients receive timely attention. You’ll also assist with up-staffing and down-staffing for the current and incoming shifts in collaboration with the Charge Nurse, Supervisor, and Nurse Manager, and perform CNA functions as needed.

Essential Job Duties:


CNA Duties include but not limited to:

  • Promotes patient safety and abides by the patient fall risk program and completes fall risk rounding at least twice per shift.
  • Obtains and documents vital signs and reports abnormal findings to patient’s nurse.
  • Performs daily weights and reports abnormal findings to patient’s nurse.
  • Appropriately documents ADLs, ambulation, intake and output, vital signs, weights, safety rounding, and any other patient care activities performed throughout shift.
  • Ensures that patients have fresh water, while appropriately observing patients with NPO status or fluid restrictions.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living along with providing them with supplies.
  • Assists in ambulating patient according to physician order.

Requirements

  • Must have an active valid CNA certificate in Maine.
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Obtains BLS certification within 1 year of hire into this position and maintains current certification thereafter.

  • Shift: 7a-7p
  • With consideration to our patients’ and staff needs, you may need to work on days, evenings, nights, weekends and/or holidays and may need to float to other units.

Maintain a high degree of responsibility, accountability, and flexibility. Ability to use fax machine, photocopier and personal computer. Demonstrates knowledge of computerized technology, procedures for reporting failures, and procedures for emergency shutdowns. Physical Requirements: Minimal physical work, lifting not to exceed 50 lbs. Moderate amount of writing. Significant amount of typing. Place equipment on supports and lift supplies as needed. Bending to perform certain duties. Use material handling equipment (i.e. cart, dollies) and proper body mechanics when moving or transferring materials, supplies, or equipment that exceeds the weight limits or that which is beyond your level of capacity to lift. Availability: Shift 7p-7a as scheduled by manager. Depending on the department staffing needs, you may be asked to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
