Job Summary:

The Stroke and Procedures Clinic Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients with stroke-related conditions and those undergoing specialized procedures such as baclofen pump therapy and lumbar punctures. This role involves patient assessment, education, coordination of care, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care & Assessment:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of stroke patients and those requiring baclofen therapy or lumbar punctures.
- Monitor neurological status and response to treatment.
- Assist in pre-procedure and post-procedure care.
Procedure Assistance & Management:
- Prepare patients for lumbar punctures and baclofen pump refills/adjustments.
- Ensure sterile technique and assist physicians during procedures.
- Monitor for complications and provide post-procedure education.
Education & Support:
- Educate patients and families about stroke recovery, baclofen therapy, and lumbar puncture procedures.
- Provide guidance on medication management and rehabilitation strategies.
- Offer emotional support and counseling as need.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
  - Work closely with neurologists, physiatrists, and rehabilitation specialists.
  - Coordinate care plans with physical therapists, occupational therapists, and social workers.
  - Participate in stroke program initiatives and quality improvement efforts.
- Documentation & Compliance:
  - Maintain accurate patient records and procedure documentation.
  - Ensure compliance with clinic protocols and regulatory standards.
  - Participate in ongoing education and training related to stroke care and procedural nursing.

Job Description:

Provide and coordinate delivery of clinical resources to assure safe, high quality patient care and ensure continuity of care. Perform duties in an environment of care where the needs of a patient are short term, non-acute, and non-life threatening.

Required Qualifications:

• Associate's in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required.

• Demonstrated effective communication skills required.

• Ability to demonstrate initiative, teamwork, and flexibility required.

• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nebraska or current compact state license required.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA) required.

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) department dependent required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Based on position, prior experience in patient nursing, specialty/primary care clinic and/or telephonics preferred.

• Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) or Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree preferred.

• Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel preferred.

• Proficient with use of email applications preferred.

• Experience with EPIC or other electronic medical records preferred.

• Specific to the Medical Call Center department; multi-state license preferred.
