Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
Includes: This role will be every 3rd weekend and 2 holidays per year

Job Summary:
The Emergency Department (ED) Staff Nurse, under general direction and in accordance with hospital standards and policies, is responsible for coordinating and evaluating nursing care for an assigned number of acute care patients. This role requires performing a variety of professional nursing duties, including supervision of the unit team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate good judgment, innovation, discretion, and effective communication skills. Comfort with assertiveness, self-growth, and exploration of one's behavior is key.


This position demands physical capability to perform activities outlined on the credentialing inventory. It requires flexibility to adapt to staffing changes dictated by patient care needs. All practices must align with accepted Standards of Practice and Ethics.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, evaluate, and deliver nursing care for acute care patients in the Emergency Department.
  • Supervise members of the unit team.
  • Adhere to hospital standards, policies, and protocols.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to adjust to varying staffing requirements based on patient care needs.
  • Ensure all nursing care is provided in accordance with accepted Standards of Practice and Ethics.

Requirements

  • Current RN license from the State of Ohio Board of Nursing.
  • Ability to provide nursing care requiring specialized knowledge, judgment, and skill derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences.
  • Must maintain competency with a minimum of 24 Continuing Education Credits (CNE) within each two-year license renewal period, including two pediatric-related CEUs.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: All duties and responsibilities are expected to be performed in accordance with Fresenius Kidney Care policy, procedures, standards of nursing practice, state and federal regulations. · Performs all essential functions under the direction of the Supervisor and with guidance from the Clinical Educator, Preceptor or in collaboration with other Registered Nurses. · Performs ongoing, systematic collection and analysis of patient data pre – during – post hemodialysis treatment for assigned patients and documents in the patient medical record, makes adjustments or modifications to treatment plan as indicated and notifies Team Leader, Charge Nurse, Supervisor or Physician as needed. · Assesses, collaborates, and documents patient/family’s basic learning needs to provide initial and ongoing education to patients and family. · Directs and provides, in collaboration with direct and ancillary patient care staff, all aspects of the daily provision of safe and effective delivery of hemodialysis therapy to assigned patients. · Administers medications as prescribed or in accordance with approved algorithm(s), and documents appropriate medical justification and effectiveness. · Initiates or assists with emergency response measures. · Serves as a resource for health care team, participates in staff training and orientation of new staff as assigned. · Ensures correct laboratory collection, processing and shipping procedures are performed and reschedules missed or insufficient laboratory collections. · Identifies expected outcomes, documents and updates the nursing assessment and plan of care for assigned patients through collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team. · Ensures patient awareness related to transplant and treatment modality options. · Required to complete CAP requirements to advance. · Performs all other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
