Our state-of-the-art Operating Room handles over 10,000 surgical cases per year, ranging from trauma and neurosurgery to orthopedics, robotics, general surgery, and open-heart procedures. Position Summary

As an OR RN at GW Hospital, you will deliver direct patient care during surgical procedures, ensuring a safe, sterile, and efficient environment. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary surgical team to provide outstanding care and uphold the highest standards of patient safety.

Main Tasks

• Circulate or scrub for surgical procedures across multiple specialties
• Perform pre-op assessments and intra-op monitoring
• Maintain aseptic techniques and enforce infection control policies
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical techs
• Document patient status and surgical events accurately and in real-time
• Provide emotional support to patients and families pre- and post-procedure
• Participate in staff training and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

Required:
• Current DC RN license (or eligible for DC licensure)
• BLS and ACLS (must be AHA-certified)

This position will conduct on-site surveys of providers, regulated by the Office of Health Care Quality, and determine their compliance with federal and/or state regulations. A nurse surveyor must possess excellent communication and writing skills, including the ability to articulate clinical findings in easily understood terms. This position is an integral part of OHCQ's mission, which is to protect the health and safety of the citizens of Maryland, as well as ensure that there is public confidence in the health care and community service delivery systems. This is a field position that requires the use of your personal vehicle, in order to travel throughout the state. Overnight stays are required at different frequencies in the various units. Below are descriptions of the nurse surveyor's role in each unit: Federal Unit: A surveyor in this unit investigates complaints and conducts surveys in a variety of settings, such as hospitals, residential treatment centers, home health, hospice, dialysis, and ambulatory surgery centers. The surveyor usually works independently and occasionally with a team. The surveyor will be required to complete all training programs mandated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Assisted Living Unit: A surveyor in this unit primarily individually investigates a complaint or conducts a survey in assisted living programs or adult medical day care centers.
