Brief Description MAIN FUNCTION: Plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation and management of the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) staff and their unit functions/needs in accordance with Hospital policies and current Federal, State and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern acute inpatient mental health facilities. Accountable for the provision of day-to-day operations to ensure quality individual care on a 24-hour basis. This position reports to the Service Line Director of Behavior Health. Duties And Responsibilities Assumes responsibility for all CPEP staff activities relating directly and indirectly to quality individual care at all times. Plans, develops, organizes, implements, and evaluates all functions and activities of the CPEP staff as well as its programs and activities in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern acute inpatient psychiatric care facilities. Develops and maintains standards of practice and quality improvement for the CPEP. Continually ensures standards are being met. Develops, maintains, implements and updates CPEP Policy and Procedures Manual in collaboration with administration and Department of Psychiatry. Assists Case Management/Discharge Planning Coordinator in developing, implementing and periodically updating the written procedures for the admission and discharge planning programs. Participates in survey (inspections) made by authorized government agencies. Is responsible for ensuring compliance with all New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), Office of Mental Health (OMH), and The Joint Commission (TJC) standards and requirements at all times. Practices Continuous Quality Improvement.
