Day Shift - 7.5 Hours (United States of America) Job Title: RN Coordinator – Breast Center Department: Breast Imaging / Breast Center Reports To: Manager of Breast Care Services FLSA Status: Exempt (Full-Time) Position Summary: The RN Coordinator for the Breast Center provides both clinical and coordination support to ensure seamless, compassionate care for patients across the breast health continuum—from screening and diagnosis to treatment and follow-up. This role combines direct patient care with care coordination, education, and quality improvement activities , supporting the clinical, operational, and regulatory functions of the Breast Center. Key Responsibilities: Clinical Care and Patient Support Provide direct nursing care to patients in the Breast Center, including assessment, triage, and follow-up for those undergoing diagnostic imaging, biopsies, and surgical consultations. Conduct patient teaching and counseling regarding imaging procedures, biopsy preparation and aftercare, post-procedure expectations, and follow-up care plans. Assist with biopsy procedures as needed, including patient preparation, specimen labeling, and post-procedure monitoring. Review diagnostic and pathology reports, notify patients of results per established protocols, and facilitate next steps in care. Support same-day diagnostic evaluations and assist in coordinating patient flow to minimize wait times. Care Coordination Serve as the primary nurse liaison for patients requiring further diagnostic testing, biopsy, or oncology referral. Coordinate multidisciplinary care among radiologists, breast surgeons, oncologists, and other providers. Monitor and track all abnormal imaging and biopsy results to ensure timely follow-up and documentation. Maintain accurate communication with referring providers and ensure continuity of care. Quality and Compliance Ensure compliance with MQSA , ACR , and institutional standards. Participate in quality assurance initiatives, audits, and performance improvement projects related to timeliness of care, patient satisfaction, and clinical outcomes. Assist in preparation for regulatory inspections and accreditation reviews. Patient Education and Outreach Develop and deliver patient education materials related to breast health, prevention, and survivorship. Support outreach events, community screenings, and early detection initiatives in collaboration with the Manager of Breast Care Services. Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and case conferences. Qualifications: Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN required. Licensure: Current RN license in the State of New York. Certifications: BLS required; Breast Health or Oncology Nursing certification preferred. Experience: Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience; prior experience in women’s health, breast imaging, oncology, or surgical coordination strongly preferred. Skills: Strong clinical assessment, communication, and patient education skills Ability to manage complex cases and coordinate multidisciplinary care Proficiency in EMR systems (e.g., Athena, Meditech) Knowledge of MQSA and ACR regulatory standards preferred Performance Expectations: Provides compassionate, patient-centered nursing care aligned with the mission and standards of the Breast Center. Ensures accurate documentation, timely follow-up, and effective communication with all members of the care team. Contributes to a culture of clinical excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Maintains professionalism and confidentiality in all patient interactions.
