Job Description: Under the leadership of the department director and assistant director the registered nurse is responsible and accountable for planning directing, assessing and providing nursing care under the policy and procedures of the assigned department. Important dimensions of this position consist of quality of care, professional commitment, teamwork, interpersonal skills, safety, good public/customer relations and a broad nursing knowledge. The RN functions as a core member of the IDG team. The registered nurse is an experienced nurse who shall orient new staff and precept students as assigned. Experience One year experience as a nurse is Preferred. A minimum of two years home health experience within the last five years is preferred. Spanish speaking preferred. Education Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred. Must pass orientation and initial competency assessment prior to independent assignment of patients requiring the applicable skill, and must complete and pass all annual competencies. The Advanced Practice Provider is responsible for providing direct patient care to all clients within an urgent care setting. This is a professional level position working under limited direction yet in coordination with a Lead APP and Medical Director. Typical work scenarios require specialized knowledge, critical thinking, good judgment based upon the principles of biological, physiological, behavioral, and sociological sciences skills, as well as strong customer service skills. Responsibilities Performs and provides treatments for minor acute illness, patient examinations, making initial assessment, initiating treatment and referring to appropriate center of care when applicable. Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies; interpreting test results. Triage and manage patients thoroughly and efficiently, maintaining a steady flow to avoid long wait times Perform digital blocks and local anesthesia. Perform minor surgical procedures, such as wound closure and management, l&D, foreign body removal Review and manage daily tasks, patient callbacks, and lab results, while on shift Provide oversight and lead day to day operations, possibly as sole provider and serve as expert by consulting, coaching and training Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, such as aspirations and injection of joints, bursas, and cysts. Perform closed reductions of simple fractures or dislocations of fingers/toes, including nursemaid's elbow reductions Apply and modify braces, splints, and other orthopedic appliances Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens; giving normal growth and development information and promoting wellness and health maintenance.
