Comprised of Registered Nurses and Nursing Assistants, our nursing team is specially trained at providing care for people living with serious illness. Palliative Care focuses on relief of symptoms and stressors of a serious illness. Collaborates with members of the health care team/patient/family to develop, implement, and evaluate an age-specific interdisciplinary plan of care. Patient/family (caregiver) educational needs are identified in a timely manner, incorporated into the plan of care, implemented and documented appropriately. The unit comprised mostly of patients with illness/injury resulting from acute myocardial infarction, acute coronary syndrome, heart failure, life threatening arrhythmias and cardiac arrest. The unit also absorbs acute admissions for medical diagnoses requiring critical care needs, allowing the nursing team to maintain a diverse competency skill set. 9 CST ICU is the backup unit for nonoperative stroke patients. This position is full time, working 7p-7a with every other weekend and rotating holidays Welcomes and assists patients and visitors with registration. May assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. Coordinates patient flow into/out of area using department/unit specific software and Intranet. Schedules patient therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. May review medical records for outstanding orders and notifies nurse of stat orders and medication changes.
