Job Summary and Qualifications The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care per the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance. What you will do in this role: Assesses patient condition during admission and during each shift as scheduled and/or as needed, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status. Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner. Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively. Manages the quality of care by collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate, evaluate, customize, and deliver a holistic patient treatment plan that promotes and supports recovery. Manages the continuation of care by serving as the interface between healthcare providers and community support systems who coordinate ongoing care needs for specialized patient groups. Job Summary and Qualifications As a highly-skilled compassionate NICU Nurse you will deliver exceptional patient care to our most vulnerable patients, premature and sick newborns. In addition to providing around-the-clock care to these patients, NICU RNs offer support to the parents, with a focus on emotional encouragement and education. Our team supports each other like family and we are looking for someone who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do. In this role: You will perform life-sustaining care for newborns in need and possess the ability to assess neonate at delivery and perform neonatal resuscitation if necessary. You will administer medications, monitor vital signs, and provide vital nutrients to newborns. You will keep, maintain and update records of the patients care to ensure that infants are breathing and maturing properly. You will work closely with department leadership and physicians to coordinate treatment plans and examinations. You will educate parents on day-to-day operations/goals, treatment plans and at home care procedures. You will act in a composed and professional manner, especially under pressure. What qualifications you will need: Current State of Alaska or Compact Registered Nurse License. Associate Degree American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification S.T.A.B.L.E. Preferred Current Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certification preferred. Must obtain NRP certification within 6 months from date of hire and then be maintained.
