Overview The Clinical Decision Unit is on the first floor of the Kelemen building. We are a locked unit and require a badge to enter or ring the doorbell to be let in. The Clinical Decisions Unit (CDU) is a35-bed, single-room unit.The patients are typically here for observation or if needed to be admitted as an inpatient they will stay in CDU until a floor bed is available. Multidisciplinary rounds are done Monday – Friday. This involves the patient in their care and allows the team members to collaborate with the patient to give them the best possible care and appropriate discharge to home or other facilities. The Express Admit Unit (EXAU) is under the management of the CDU. There are 6-bed areas where the admitted patients stay until a floor bed is available. This gives them privacy and care while waiting for their room to be available. Both CDU and EXAU can have patients on telemetry for cardiac monitoring. Short Description The Clinical Nurse Manager applies knowledge, leadership skills, and clinical judgment to effectively support daily operations of the medical surgical unit. This role is to support the clinical nursing staff as a resource and will align with the organization's mission, vision, and strategic goals by fostering a culture of excellence, safety, and continuous improvement in patient care. Facilitate timely and appropriate bed assignments in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to optimize unit-based throughput, ensuring fair, safe, and balanced clinical workloads using available data and technology. Support nursing-sensitive quality indicators (NDNQI) by promoting effective care coordination, identifying and addressing gaps in care, preventing potential errors from reaching the bedside. Serve as a mentor and role model by fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and professional growth. Empower clinical staff to develop patient-centered solutions and practice to the full scope of their licensure through ongoing support and engagement. Optimize the use of clinical and operational resources to ensure safe, high-quality, and fiscally responsible care delivery. Promote sustainable practices and staffing efficiency to support patient outcomes and organizational goals. Partner with the Clinical Director to deliver timely, constructive feedback and coaching that supports professional development, promotes behavior aligned with organizational standards, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement. Support patient experience and address patient concerns in real time, escalate and provide service recovery as appropriate. May be required to take a patient care assignment if this support is necessary. The shifts are 12 hours to align with the shift of the nursing unit. Overview Kelemen North and South 9 is a two-sided, seventy-six bed Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit. Our staff care for a variety of patient populations, including cardiac, trauma, gastrointestinal, and psych. To support our staff are Clinical Nurse Managers (CNMs) which help with patient care, through put, and assignments. Nurses who are staffed on Kelemen 9 are required to have Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications, which will allow competent and safe care for our complex patient populations. Experience Required Minimum of 2 years clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting, with 1 year of demonstrated leadership abilities. 3-5 years of experience preferred. Education Requirements High School/GED required. Bachelor's Degree required from an NLN accredited school of nursing. License/Certification Requirements NJ-RN: Current NJ RN license. BLS from AHA required. ACLS from AHA required. CNL or AACN Specialty certification preferred. Special Requirements 7pm-7am, rotating weekends and holidays required.

Overview Kelemen 10 is a medical-surgical unit that cares for patients who have various needs and disease processes. Both North and South 10 have Telemetry capabilities for our patients. Each side houses 36 patients to a maximum of 72 patients. South 10 has a 12-bed Intermediate Care Unit embedded within the 36-bed unit. INCU has critically care-trained RNs who support the patient's needs and care for ventilated patients. South 10 also has 2 negative pressure isolation rooms with an anti-room that is used when needed for specific isolation needs. We do multidisciplinary rounds Monday – Friday. This involves the patient in their care and allows the team members to collaborate with the patient to give them the best possible care and appropriate discharge to home or other facilities. We have a pharmacist who has an office on the unit to assist the RNs when needed to help avoid delay of care to any patient. Education Requirements Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing. Our surgical services include surgical oncology, urology, bariatrics, and thoracic and colorectal surgery. Our leadership structure, comprised of a clinical director, an assistant clinical director, clinical nurse managers, and a clinical educator, is dedicated to supporting our staff and patient safety. Pavilion 6 is supported by our unit secretaries, critical care technicians and registered nurses seven days a week. We work towards having all of our nurses’ cross-trained in surgical intermediate within the first year at Cooper. Pavilion-6 fosters a close relationship with our providers, as our APN’s and Surgical Residents are easily accessible for support, questions, and directions with patient care. They have offices right here on the unit, along with our leadership team and our transitional care team. PACU is located on the third floor of the Pavilion and Kelemen building. There is also an area on Pavilion 2. Patients here can often be sent home following the procedure or are admitted to the hospital. This is based upon the procedure performed and the necessary recovery needed. If admitted the patient is transferred to the appropriate floor for continued recovery and discharge. The PACU sees infants to geriatrics. Here the patients are closely monitor while they are waking up from the anesthesia they received during the procedure. Depending on the procedure and the orders received from the physicians the patient will be discharged home or admitted to the hospital.
