Staff Nurse

Position Summary The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process to provide, facilitate, and coordinate care for Telfair Breast Surgery patients based on current standards of medical / surgical nursing and in accordance with the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. That care includes initial and ongoing assessment, as well as,assisting physicians and other clinical care givers in the provision and continuity of care for the Telfair Breast Surgery patient. In addition, provide direct education and oversight of clinical staff to ensure competencies as per SJC policies maintaining documentation of the education and return demonstration of clinical competency. Responsible to ensure that all required PQRS measures are completed for applicable patients and documentation is readily available to support that measures were successfully completed. Participates in data gathering, presentation, and submission for all applicable accreditation bodies. Education Associate Degree in Nursing - Required Experience 2-3 Years Medical/ Surgical - Preferred Physician office experience a plus License & Certification Registered Nurse License with State of Practice - Required Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required Core Job Functions Maintains up to date knowledge of policies and procedures of Hospital as well as Standards of Practice for specialty area. Exercise independent judgment in the assessment of patient's needs, and identifies clinical priorities throughout the Hospital. Responds appropriately to resolving issues that impact patient care. Plans and implements staff education activities based on learning needs assessments. Evaluates and documents outcome of staff educational experiences. Assists managers with training and monitoring of complete and accurate caregiver documentation in the system to assure quality patient care and regulatory compliance. Maintains records to ensure development of clinical documentation needs/modifications are met in a timely manner. Ensures documentation design is developed and built to support national ALOS, CMS requirements, MU requirements and other regulatory entities. Functions as part of the team maintaining constructive collaborative relationships with coworkers, peers, managers and customers. Takes the initiative to lead by example and provide service recovery whenever necessary. Assists in the social and professional integration of others within the environment.
