Conduct timely and accurate cash management duties, including overseeing the collection of co-pays and patient balances, in-house cash balances, and bank deposits. Ensure that service excellence is delivered and perform service recovery whenever necessary. Manage office and medical surgical supplies within budget Ensure accuracy of all data collection and data entry by site staff through training and compliance monitoring and facilitate and oversee flow of information to and from central administrative offices. Conduct office staff meetings on a regular basis. Attend and actively participate in manager/supervisor meetings. Ensure that patient dignity and confidentiality are maintained at all times. Additional Functions Review and approve automated time reports for accuracy. Develop tools to support staff and enhance efficiency. Provide input into staff performance reviews. May participate with manager in conducting staff performance reviews. Provide one to one coaching and mentoring. Plan, execute and resolve all routine technical needs of the practice (phone, copiers, fax machines, PCs, etc) Monitor daily transaction activity to ensure compliance with procedures. Resolve complex or critical situations involving patients, staff and customers: consults with manager for guidance as needed (e.g., complaints, discipline, etc.). Schedule staff and allocate resources across hours of operation to maximize patient access and satisfaction, provider productivity and efficiency, staff productivity, cost-savings, and operational efficiencies. Develop and implement policies and procedures as needed to support the practice. Complete other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required: Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience Minimum of three years work experience in a medical or related business Comprehension of insurance plans including HMO,PPO, POS, commercial, Medicare, Medicaid Solid understanding of patient flow in a medical office Leadership experience Working knowledge of medical software, Word and Excel Experience managing daily cash activity and reconciling income reports with daily payments. Current License as Registered Professional Nurse in state employed in. Record new/changed diet orders. Forward information to the Dietary Department. Perform routine charting duties as required and in accordance with our established Charting and Documentation Policies and Procedures. Responsible for completion of admission, discharge, and transfer processes. Prepare and administer medications and treatments if appropriate as ordered by the physician. Review medication record for completeness of information, accuracy in the transcription of the physician’s order, and adherence to stop order policies. Administer professional services such as: catheterization, tube feedings, suction, applying and changing dressings/bandages, packs, colostomy, and drainage bags, care of the dead/dying, etc., as required. Participate in the orientation of new customers/family members to the facility. Arrange for diagnostic and therapeutic services, as ordered by the physician. Notify the customer’s attending physician and family when there is a change in the customer’s conditions. Obtain sputum, urine and other lab tests as ordered. The staff nurse assumes the primary responsibility and accountability for all patient care personally provided and that provided by those directly under her/his supervision. The Margaret M. and George A. Stephen Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Comer Children's Hospital is among the largest in the Midwest, with approximately 1,000 admissions every year. Our NICU features 47 designated tertiary care beds (Level III) and 18 convalescent (Level II) beds. Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) can be provided for up to three infants at a time by a special group of ECMO specialists who supplement the NICU nursing staff. Northwestern Neuro Nurses (@10west_10best) • Instagram photos and videos General Care Information The Neuroscience Progressive unit is a 29-bed unit comprised of a neuroscience step down (12 beds), neuroscience floor (11 beds), and epilepsy monitoring unit (6 beds). Our nurses are trained to work in all areas of this unit allowing them to experience caring for the neurological population at various phases of the care continuum. Specialty Care & Devices The Neuro Step Down Unit is the 12-bed progressive care portion of the unit that cares for the complex neurological patient population. Northwestern Memorial Hospital is a Comprehensive Stroke Center, providing the highest level of stroke care to this patient population. This area of the unit provides care to the stroke patient in the acute phase of their care, accepting patients immediately post TPA or thrombectomy. Our nurses within this area will frequently assess neurological status and continuously monitor patients’ telemetry and pulse oximetry. The Neuro Step Down unit also accepts patients with cerebrospinal fluid drains such as extraventricular drains (EVDs) and lumbar drains. The Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) is a segment of the larger unit that welcomes electively admitted patients who are monitored and evaluated for seizure events. These patients are monitored on video electroencephalography (vEEG) in a safe, controlled environment. Nurses in this area of the unit are expected to safely and promptly respond, assess, and keep patients safe during these events. The neuroscience floor accepts medical and surgical patients with neurological diagnoses. Patients cared for within this area are more stable and out of that acute phase of care required of the Neuro Step Down. Populations served in this area include: Brain tumor resections and management, neuromuscular disorders, demyelinating disorders, stroke, and seizures. The complex care of the neurological population requires collaboration from all members of the interdisciplinary team.
