This person reports to the Chief Medical Officer and Section Chief of designated department. This position functions in a collaborative/consultative role with nursing departments. The ARNP obtains medical/psychiatric chemical dependency histories and performs complete and/or appropriate examinations, tests, x-rays and treatment programs in an assigned area for patients of all ages. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES Establish, review and revise, the necessary Rehabilitation Therapies policies and procedures with the following characteristics: Consistent with medical center, service line, regulatory, funding, legal, and professional standards. Ensure appropriate and timely patient entry, assessment, treatment and disposition. Ensure coordination with relevant Physicians and program coordinators to eliminate barriers to interdisciplinary and/or inter-program cooperation. Consistent with requirements through which service reimbursement can be enhanced. Responsible for Rehabilitation Therapies program development and accountability: Program goals and objectives are written and revised annually. Budget projections for program costs, volume and revenues are submitted annually. Operations, including staff productivity, are monitored throughout the year for compliance with budgeted figures. Responsible for maintaining contacts with relevant medical center staff and community agencies. Assess demand and unmet need for Rehabilitative Therapies and recommend ways in which available program resources can be used to meet identified needs in the most efficient manner, as consistent with quality services. Increase awareness, accessibility and appropriateness of Rehabilitative Therapies. Ensure that the following Performance Improvement and evaluation systems are developed, implemented, reviewed, and revised as appropriate: Orientation, in-service and related supervisory processes. Performance Improvement monitoring and evaluating processes. Performance standards used in annual employee performance evaluations. Responsible for working with service supervisors to investigate critical incidents and patient complaints; follow-up until disposition obtained. Responsible for arranging contractual agreements with agencies providing contracted rehabilitation services (e.g. speech and hearing services) for medical center patients. Develop, implement, and monitors productivity standards, to ensure all services are at the appropriate productivity level. Maintain professional knowledge and skills through continuing education, professional reading and provision of direct care services; available for clinical consultation and supervision. Responsible for Rehabilitation Therapies personnel matters. Arrange contracts with educational institutions for Rehabilitation Therapies clinical internship. Maintain active involvement in professional and community organizations. Actively participate in Broadlawns Medical Center meetings and committees. Maintain licensure status. Recommend a sufficient number of qualified and competent staff to provide care/service. Determine qualifications and competence of departmental personnel who provide patient care services including their ability to determine each patient's age related and other physical, psychological and cultural needs in carrying out patient care activities. Interview and hire new departmental staff. Communicate and model values and mission of Broadlawns Medical Center through staff orientation, development, and performance counseling and performance appraisals. Ensure staff participates collaboratively as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Assures appropriate compliance with regulatory agencies, which includes JCAHO. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS Review monthly late charge report and develop corrective action plan, as appropriate, and submit to CEO within designated time frame. Ensure all new employees have completed Entry Education prior to working in the department. Complete monthly report and financial analysis within designated time frame. Complete all annual mandatory education training within defined time frame (i.e. performance appraisals, safety training, corporate compliance, confidentiality training) Demonstrated ability to manage change. Develop and monitor accountability utilizing CQI approach. Implement strategies for adhering to set productivity levels. Stay abreast of all JCAI-IO standard changes and ensures full compliance. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Master’s degree from an accredited program, in health related or administrative field. Total of at least five years clinical/administrative experience in a Medical Center setting, to include at least three years with patients with dementias and at least two years administrative experience. Three years previous supervisory experience in related field. Knowledge of hospital budgeting processes and reimbursement requirements for Rehabilitation Therapies. Ability to work cooperatively with other disciplines, physicians and administrators; commitment to interdisciplinary treatment approaches. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Ability to innovatively problem solve. General knowledge and skils in the use of computers including basic computer applications. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Ability to provide clinical supervision of physical disability therapy services. Responsibilities The Nurse Practitioner delivers annual risk assessment in a residential setting or telehealth, within the scope of practice for a Nurse Practitioner, as delegated by the Collaborative Physician. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive in-home health risk assessments to identify all active and chronic disease conditions, as well as determine all physical, mental, and social needs present at the time of the visit Takes history, examines, determines diagnoses. Provides written documentation of patient visit, per NCQA standards Takes patient vital signs, as necessary. Places case management referrals and communicates with PCP as necessary. Communicates with patients, caregivers, agency nurses, other providers and vendors as necessary to assure proper diagnosis. Performs all clinical duties while observing OSHA Universal Precautions Maintains patient confidentiality Attends required meetings and in-services and participates in committees, as requested Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional licenses and affiliations In this role you may work with. . .
