Overview About the Role The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) is a skilled health provider who through a written collaborative practice agreement with a physician is credentialed through the Medical Staff Office. The APN practice will promote wellness through conducting research, providing education and works autonomously as well as in interdisciplinary teams. Responsibilities What You’ll Do Collects comprehensive patient health data/history including past and present medical, surgical, family, and social history. Diagnostic tests and procedures relevant to the patient’s status are collected, interpreted, and documented at the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Completes the medication reconciliation process by documenting the current list of medications (including over the counter and nutritional supplements) taken by patient at each visit. Performs and documents an appropriate comprehensive physical assessment of patients which will include a review of systems, evaluation of manifestations and toxicities related to medical conditions and anticoagulation management. In collaboration with the physician, critically analyzes the assessment data/diagnostic tests and determines a diagnosis. In addition, develops a comprehensive plan of care that includes interventions of treatments to attain outcomes. Evaluates patient progress in attaining expected treatment outcomes. Monitors for signs and symptoms related to disease progression/recurrence. Appropriately manages medical and anticoagulation management emergencies according to protocol/policy. Prescribes and/or orders medications. Obtains appropriate consents for surgery and procedures. Ensures completion of all needed pre-operative tests, forms, and documents. Documents assessments, prescribing, plan, modifications to plan, and evaluation of care in the EMR. Qualifications What You’ll Bring Required: Completion of an educational program which is designed and conducted to prepare graduates to practice as an NP/APN with a master’s degree in nursing and eligible for certification by a national certifying body. A current Registered/Professional Nurse license and registration in the State of New Jersey is required. Overview About the Role Leverages extensive subject matter expertise on clinical systems and knowledge of clinical operations and workflows to coordinate the activities of medical staff in the planning, development, implementation, and support of clinical information systems/solutions to improve the delivery of patient care and hospital operations. Advanced Practice Nurse - Critical Care (Per Diem)

Responsibilities The University Hospital Medical Intensive Care Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) (Nurse Practitioner, NP) provides direct patient care services for critically ill complex patients in an intensive care setting in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Medical ICU attending physicians. The APN performs physical exams, collects, and documents data, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, prescribes appropriate interventions and medications. Coordinates the care and discharge of patients and provides direct patient care services. The APN contributes to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, and provides leadership to the organization. Qualifications Currently licensed as RN in the State of New Jersey and certified as APN by the Board of Nursing. MSN required. Either one (1) year of experience as an APN in a critical care setting required, or three (3) years of experience as a RN in a critical care setting required. Experience with neuro patients preferred. BLS and ACLS required. CCRN preferred.
