The Program Provides Incentives As Follows Recruitment incentives will be paid in quarterly installments over the first year of hire and will begin after the first quarter of employment. New employees accepting this recruitment bonus must commit to two consecutive years of employment with DHSS. You must be a new employee to the state to be eligible for this incentive. Summary Statement The LPN, a Licensed Practical Nurse, is sometimes referred to as a vocational nurse. LPNs provide direct care to their patients. They are responsible in providing for the daily basic needs of patients, including administering medication and treatments, and maintain close communication with their supervisors, the Registered Nurses. If patients have minor wounds, LPNs perform wound cleaning and dressing changes. LPNs are also responsible for checking patients' hydration and food intake and assisting patients with hygiene and ADLs.
