Performs Other duties as required. Overview Kelemen North 7 is a 23-bed medical surgical/telemetry unit specializing in the care of traumatically injured patients. Patients with injuries that are stable but require ongoing close monitoring are admitted to this unit directly from the ED or the Ross Trauma Admitting Area. Patients are also admitted to the unit as they are downgraded from the Trauma/Surgical ICU or the Trauma Step-Down Unit. Patients usually cared for in this area include those with traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, rib fractures and lung injuries, as well as diverse orthopedic injuries requiring frequent monitoring and care. The unit is staffed with registered nurses, critical care technicians, trauma surgery nurse practitioners and resident physicians. Staff also work closely with respiratory therapy and specialized surgical groups such as orthopedics and neurosurgery. Nurses and critical care technicians working in this area receive education specific to the care of the trauma patient. Experience Required A minimum of one year or more of RN acute care experience in an inpatient setting is preferred Education Requirements Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing. License/Certification Requirements Current NJ-RN License (Registered Nurse). Current NJ-BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) Certain specialties may require advanced certification (i.e., ACLS, NALS, PALS). Special Requirements Hours: 7 am -7 pm, weekends and holidays required.

Are you living your life's work? Intensive Care Nursery (ICN) The Intensive Care Nursery is a 50 bed level 3 intensive care unit that specializes in the care of premature and critically ill infants. As part of the largest delivery service in Philadelphia, this busy unit cares for infants who require both long term and transitional care. The staff on this unit primarily care for infants who were born prematurely however other diagnosis include but are not limited to: hypoglycemia, sepsis, respiratory distress, neonatal abstinence syndrome and delayed neonatal transitions. Within the Intensive Care Nursery is a 9 bed level 2 transitional nursery that cares for lower acuity patients who are focused on gaining weight and improving feeding skills so that they can be safely discharged. The complexity of the patients on our unit requires a patient ratio of 1:1 or 1:4 depending on the acuity. The Intensive Care Nursery is a collaborative environment that uses the skill and expertise from a variety of disciplines to provide the highest level of care in a family centered environment. Using performance improvement and evidence based practice this team is always focused on improving patient care. In addition, the unit participates in numerous research studies aimed at elevat i ng neonatal care. The team is fortunate to have a staff committed to their patients and the hospital.
