Summary: 3 South is a 30-bed unit specializing in cardiovascular disorders and thoracic surgery. 3 South cares primarily for patients frequently requiring ambulatory telemetry monitoring, in a Progressive Care Unit environment. Cardiovascular disorders cared for on 3 South include: MI-following the acute stay in the HVICU, Heart Failure; Pulmonary Edema; Arrhythmias; Post-interventional Radiology patients; Post-procedure Angioplasty; Valvular Heart Disease. The staff cares for Thoracic Surgery patients undergoing various thoracic surgical procedures such as lobectomy, esophagectomy, sleeve resection/chest wall resection, VATS, lung volume reduction surgery and endobronchial valves. In addition, the staff cares for Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) and Heart Failure (HF) patients, utilizing hemodynamic monitoring tools to diagnose and treat the most severe forms of both diseases including patients with Left Ventricular Assist Devices. Summary of Accountabilities: The Clinical Nurse 1 New to Practice/Apprentice is a newly licensed new-to-practice RN or RN with less than 15 months of experience that demonstrates basic safe practice within the organizational professional practice model. Overview The Clinical Decision Unit is on the first floor of the Kelemen building. We are a locked unit and require a badge to enter or ring the doorbell to be let in. The Clinical Decisions Unit (CDU) is a35-bed, single-room unit.The patients are typically here for observation or if needed to be admitted as an inpatient they will stay in CDU until a floor bed is available. Multidisciplinary rounds are done Monday – Friday. This involves the patient in their care and allows the team members to collaborate with the patient to give them the best possible care and appropriate discharge to home or other facilities. The Express Admit Unit (EXAU) is under the management of the CDU. There are 6-bed areas where the admitted patients stay until a floor bed is available. This gives them privacy and care while waiting for their room to be available. Both CDU and EXAU can have patients on telemetry for cardiac monitoring. Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required: Must have valid NJ RN License. Approved licenses must be presented and maintained in accordance with the State of New Jersey licensing board. Demonstrates knowledge of nursing skills, hospital practices, procedures and standards. Perfects skills and stays abreast of current nursing practice through on-going education, journals, etc. Must have strong communication skills. Hourly Rate: $44.57 - $60.44 The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant’s experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
