ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS • Complete a comprehensive assessment. This includes the initial and ongoing, extensive collection and interpretation of data. • Synthesize the data collected during the comprehensive assessment to identify problems, make nursing diagnoses, and to formulate goals, teaching plans and outcomes. • Implement the plan of care. The RN may begin, deliver or delegate certain interventions within the plan of care for patients within legal, ethical, and regulatory parameters and in consideration of health restoration, disease prevention, wellness, and promotion of healthy lifestyles. • Evaluate and report patient outcomes and responses to therapeutic interventions in comparison to benchmarks from evidence-based practice and research, plans any follow-up care and referrals to appropriate resources that may be needed. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is required. • 2 years experience in an acute care setting is required. • Current State of Texas License as a Registered Nurse or compact license allowing the nurse to practice in Texas. • Certficiation within area of specialty (e.g., CEN, CPEN, CCRN, CNOR) preferred. • ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC required within 12 months of date of employment to be scheduled in the ED. ACLS is required within 6 months to be scheduled in CCU or PACU areas. • Required to complete preceptor education training in Elsevier within 1 year of hire. • Required to complete eight (8) hours of hospital provided continuing education hours upon hire and annually for Total Joint and Spine. Education will focus on management/care of total hip, knee and shoulder replacement as well as elective spine surgery patients.
