As a Correctional Hemodialysis Nurse , you will work alongside correctional staff and other medical professionals to provide quality care to the individuals in residence ensuring all nursing care is performed in compliance to standards and adherence to regulations. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical needs. Responsibilities The Hemodialysis Nurse provides hemodialysis treatment to the patients within the facility. Duties and responsibilities may include and are not limited to: Conducts initial and ongoing assessments of inmates requiring hemodialysis, develops and implements individualized care plans, and monitors patient responses to treatment. Administers dialysis treatments, including setting up and monitoring dialysis machines, managing access sites (e.g., fistulas, grafts, catheters), and ensuring patient safety during the procedure. Administers medications, including those related to dialysis treatment, according to physician orders and facility protocols. Responds to and manages emergencies related to dialysis treatment, including potential complications like hypotension, bleeding, or infection. Implements and maintains strict infection control practices to prevent the spread of infections within the dialysis unit. Works closely with nephrologists, other nurses, correctional officers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and effective care.
