Job Requirements POSITION SUMMARY To be fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Experience, and Stewardship by performing a variety of technical activities related to patient care, as well as support activities in the operating room under the direction of a registered nurse. PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES Performs a variety of duties in an operating room observing proper techniques to include preparing rooms with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment; open sterile supplies and arrange sterile setups for operations. Creates, maintains, and terminates sterile field for surgical procedures. Properly handles and cares for all instruments and equipment. Checks materials and equipment for proper functioning and adequacy; reports faulty equipment and instruments per policy. Assists with precepting new technical personnel. Attends in-services and mandatory meetings. Cooperates with the nurse in the individualized plan of care for each patient. Anticipates needs of surgeon and surgical assistants in the operating room, passing instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies needed in an operative procedure. Demonstrates an ability to perform all duties required of a Surgical Technologist in accordance with established procedures and completion of skills check list. Work Experience MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Completion of Health First’s On-The-Job Training Program for Surgical Technician, OR graduate of a program for Surgical Technologist (Military, Community College, or School for Surgical Technology), OR one year of work experience as a surgical tech or surgical assistant Licensure: None Certification: Must hold American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain. As a result, the company is working to provide our differentiated, quality outcomes to as many patients that would benefit through our out-patient clinic partnerships Under the direction of the Wound Care Center Clinical Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator, the Registered Nurse (RN) primarily provides patient care and handles intake and discharge processes for the Wound Care Center patients as scheduled. The position may also serve as a Case Manager to a group of assigned Wound Care Center patients, as assigned and depending on the Wound Care Center setup. Essential Functions/Responsibilities: Provides patient care to Wound Care Center patients and handles patient intake and discharge processes as assigned and according to the hospital and nursing standards Assist in vein clinic as assigned after Healogics Vein Clinic training completed May also serve as Case Manager to a group of patients as assigned. This entails: Performing the initial nursing assessment, communicating findings with the assigned physician, assessing the wound stage and measurements, documenting care plans, evaluating the patient’ status in regards to desired outcomes, and identifying patient care situations that require intervention Participating in quality improvement initiatives, providing education to the patient or caregiver, and serving as a patient advocate in the delivery and coordination of the patient care Performs hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) related duties as assigned, upon completion of the Healogics hyperbaric training May perform hyperbaric safety director duties after completing the required Healogics hyperbaric safety director training Collaborates as needed with other healthcare providers, Wound Care Center Providers, the Program Director and the Medical Director regarding clinic and patient needs May function as a Documentation Assistant (scribe) in accordance with Healogics policy Performs other duties as required. Under the supervision of the Medical Director, the Clinic RN oversees prescribed cardiac rehabilitation treatment. The Clinic RN is responsible, as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, for promoting optimal outcomes. The Clinic RN demonstrates an understanding of the philosophy of quality-driven, patient-centered care. Along with the Exercise Physiologist, the Clinic RN will continuously monitor patients for exercise tolerance and adverse response to exercise. PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES 1. As directed by the provider and Health Center Nurse Manager, the CMA assists the provider and performs appropriate tests and procedures. The CMA is responsible for administrative tasks for the health and wellness center and may assist the Patient Advocate in employee/patient engagement and outreach. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Assists with treatments ordered by provider as supervised by provider or registered nurse. Performs select clinical duties Interviews patients measure vital signs and record information on patients' charts. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients Performs basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing Performs basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking supplies. Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment May document the provider's encounter with patients. Lists all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as indicated by the provider. Transcribes patient orders including, but not limited to, laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Ability to draw blood and confident in blood draw skills High school diploma or equivalent. Associates degree preferred Certification as a Medical Assistant preferred Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association valid for at least 90 days after start date Experience working with Pediatric patients Ability to communicate effectively and maintain working relationships with people from diverse backgrounds Ability to prioritize needs and plan work accordingly Knowledge of HIPAA Certification in hearing and fit testing preferred or willing to get certified. Nursing care is provided to the individual patient, based upon cultural, spiritual and age specific needs. Primary Accountabilities: Quality/No Harm: Demonstrates effective medication administration provided to patients as evidenced by Preceptor Observation Tool, Skills Fair Demonstration, and Clinical Practice. Demonstrates appropriate delegation and supervision of patient care activities within the healthcare setting. Demonstrates effective communication with other members of the healthcare team and promotes effective team functioning. Utilizes Health First computer systems with regards to order entry, order inquiry, and patient care documentation. Demonstrates effective and safe clinical practice as evidenced by Skills Fair demonstration, completion of yearly Competency Assessment, and Age Specific Checklist. Coordinates interdisciplinary plan of care based on current evidence based practice. Documents all nursing care, change in condition, response to therapy, treatments, procedures and referrals on patient record to meet standards. Demonstrates dependability, reliability and flexibility. Stewardship: Uses and cares for equipment and supplies economically. Customer Experience: Provides patient, family, and/or caregiver education as directed by the plan of care. Provides service to patients and families with sensitivity and respect for their needs, expectations, age, cultural, and individual differences. Contributes to the patient experience as evidenced by positive patient satisfaction scores and HCAHPs scores for department/medical center and/or written compliments by patients/others as well as consistent performance of purposeful hourly rounding and bedside shift report. Work Experience QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Education: Graduate of an approved school of professional nursing. Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required. BSN highly preferred. Licensure: Current Florida RN licensure or endorsement. Certification: Must hold current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain. Certification(s) as required by specific unit. Experience: Must meet unit specific care requirements. Language: Must be able to speak / understand written and verbal instructions in the English language. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must have visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform clinical tasks. Must have corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Must be able to lift, turn, pull, push or ambulate patients / equipment up to 90% of the assigned shift. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted up to 33% of the assigned shift. Must be able to stand, walk, bend and stoop up to 90% of assigned shift.
