Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)

Job Summary The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Director of Nursing Services in planning, organizing, developing and directing the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Services Department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator, the Medical Director, and/or the Director of Nursing Services, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. In the absence of the Director of Nursing Services, you charged with carrying out the resident care policies established by this facility. Responsibilities Assist with daily operations and decision making within the Nursing Department Serve as backup to Director of Nursing Perform assigned duties as determined by the Director of Nursing Participate in the On-call schedule with the other Nursing Admin Round daily on the nursing units to monitor compliance with wound management interventions, protocols, policy and procedure; Collect and report data as it relates to Wound Management; Work in conjunction with the QA Nurse as it relates to Wound Management; Provide frequent education to the nursing staff to promote compliance with Wound Management and related policies and procedure; Lead routine wound rounds on the units and document the same in accordance with requirements; Coordinate the completion of routine skin assessments of residents; Provide communication with physicians regarding wound care of residents and suggestions for interventions to promote healing; Liaison with the local wound care clinics; Maintain policy and procedures, wound protocols for the facility in accordance with standards of care; Round on the nursing units to act as an additional resource person as needed. Attend meetings as related to Wound Management and other aspects of the position; Prepare reports to the DON and/or Administrator; Qualifications EDUCATION: Associate’s Degree or equivalent nursing experience is necessary. Bachelor’s degree is preferred. CERTIFICATION: Current RN license is required. Employee must be in good standing with the state. Possession of a current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers CPR certificate is required. Experience: Candidates with relevant nursing admin experience are preferred. Takes vital signs (height, weight, and blood pressure) at each visit and accurately transcribe results in patient’s chart. Update patient history and documentation of tobacco use, allergies, medications and immunizations. Removes, dressings and staples as required, prepares patient for examination, test(s) or procedure(s).
