NURSING SUPERVISOR

The Registered Nurse Supervisor (RNS), primary responsibilities are to manage Nursing staff, oversee Patient care and confirm compliance with policies and procedures. In charge of admitting Patients, updating Patients medications, communicating with pharmacy for medication and reporting to the Director of Nursing (DON). Additionally, the supervisor is an interface between Staff, Patients and their families. Duties and Responsibilities: Holding nursing team members responsible for maintaining hospital policies and procedures Developing work schedules with adequate staffing for each shift, verifying that there are enough nurses on hand to provide physician support and patient care Managing departmental budgets to use resources as effectively as possible Making certain that patient records are kept up to date and that they remain private and confidential Working alongside the nursing team to provide direct care to patients, and communicating diagnosis and treatment plans with patient families Performing basic administrative duties and keeping all department well-organized and efficient Education: BS in Nursing An advanced degree is preferred. An Associate's degree in Nursing with applicable work experience may be considered in lieu of a BS. NYS license in Nursing with current registration is preferred. Experience: Previous Long term Experience in RNS role is preferable. Good investigative skills. Ability to write, educate and work independently. Our MBU nursing staff, obstetrical hospitalists, and neonatologists offer 24-hour, family-centered care. Lactation services are provided by our board certified lactation consultants and supported by our nurses who have extensive breastfeeding training . Mothers at risk for postpartum hypertensive complications are counseled and enrolled in our post-discharge surveillance program, Heart Safe Motherhood. Newborns are evaluated daily by pediatricians or neonatologists, and can be taken to our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) should further evaluation be needed or complications arise. Registered Nurse (Mother Baby) - Plainsboro, NJ - Per Diem (Day Shift)

Are you living your life's work? Why Join Our Team? The Mother-Baby Unit (MBU) is a 24-bed postpartum unit providing couplet care for mothers and newborns, as well as low-risk antepartum patients. Our MBU nursing staff, obstetrical hospitalists, and neonatologists offer 24-hour, family-centered care. Lactation services are provided by our board-certified lactation consultants and supported by our nurses who have extensive breastfeeding training . Mothers at risk for postpartum hypertensive complications are counseled and enrolled in our post-discharge surveillance program, Heart Safe Motherhood. Newborns are evaluated daily by pediatricians or neonatologists and can be taken to our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) should further evaluation be needed or complications arise. Newborn care procedures include hearing screens, evaluation and management of hyperbilirubinemia, car seat testing, screening for critical congenital heart defects, and metabolic screening. Patient education is central to postpartum care and address topics such as newborn care, maternal care and recognition of early warning signs of possible postpartum complications. Collaboration with Princeton Health’s Community Wellness services is also initiated as needed. Scheduling Requirements: Work a minimum of two shifts per four-week schedule or a total of 24 hours a month 12 of these hours must be fulfilled on a weekend shift. Work one holiday per calendar year. Per Diem RNs will be paid at 1.5 times the rate for all hours worked on these holidays . Based on your hired shift, work at least two ‘difficult to staff’ days per calendar year (Easter, Mother’s Day, Halloween, ‘Black Friday’, Good Friday, Christmas Eve, Valentine’s Day or New Year’s Eve) Follow departmental call-out policy Make-up absences within the same schedule period. Failure to comply with this on two occasions in a year will result in withdrawal of the employee from Per Diem status. Scheduled as per the needs of your individual unit Key Roles and Responsibilities: All of our nurses and providers are trained in neonatal and obstetrical emergency response. In addition to routine care, nurses provide other clinical services such as insertion and care of peripheral IV lines, administration of blood and blood products, urinary catheterization, evaluation for postpartum depression risk factors and support, and pain management. Diagnostic services include bladder scanning, EKGs, ultrasound studies, external fetal monitoring and non-stress tests (for antepartum patients), x-rays, and laboratory tests.
