Position Summary (CMA) Under the direction of the physician, Charge RN or Manager performs direct clinical activities in a courteous, caring and respectful manner. These include patient intake, blood draw, pharmacy calls, EKG and any tests required by the physician. Job Description The nurse navigator helps breast cancer patients “navigate” through the often-complicated journey of a cancer diagnosis. Throughout this process, the nurse navigator is there to help resolve any barriers to timely care, help connect patients with the resources they may need, and to provide education and emotional support throughout the phases of diagnosis, staging, active treatment and survivorship. Overview Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, Critical care Nurses provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles. In addition to general nursing care, responsibilities of Critical care Nurses include (but are not limited to): Assessment: Conducts ongoing focused physical, psychosocial, and pain assessments; includes assessment of patient education needs. Teach patients and significant others how to manage their illness/injury, by explaining: post-treatment home care needs, diet/nutrition/exercise programs, self-administration of medication and rehabilitation. Demonstrates efforts in the prevention of hospital acquired conditions (HAC) CAUTI, CLABSI, Pressure injuries and Falls. Records all patients’ medical information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms. Prepares equipment and assists physician during examination and treatment/procedures of patient at the bedside. Participates in the formulation, review and or revision of departmental policies. Proactively participates in performance improvement initiatives to continuously improve the quality of patient care. Uses hospital resources effectively in providing patient care.
