Overview The Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) in Cardiovascular Surgery plays an integral role in the comprehensive care of adult cardiothoracic surgical patients. This provider works collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, intensivists, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality perioperative care. Responsibilities include inpatient rounding, first assisting in the operating room, managing pre‑ and postoperative patients, and participating in call coverage. Overview: Serve as first assist in cardiovascular surgical procedures, including CABG, valve surgery, aortic procedures, and other cardiothoracic operations. Perform surgical tasks such as vein harvesting, suturing, retraction, cannulation assistance, and hemostasis. Support preoperative preparation and postoperative handoff to ICU teams.
