The Delaware Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) seeks to increase the number of applicants for clinical nursing positions by offering a recruitment incentive to eligible Advanced Practice Nurse, Nurse Consultant, Nursing Supervisor, Compliance Nurse, Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, and Certified Nursing Assistant candidates in accordance with the DHSS Recruitment and Referral Incentive Program. The Program Provides Incentives As Follows Recruitment incentives will be paid in quarterly installments over the first year of hire and will begin after the first quarter of employment. New employees accepting this recruitment bonus must commit to two consecutive years of employment with DHSS. You must be a new employee to the state to be eligible for this incentive. Referral bonuses of $1,000 are available to current DHSS employees who refer new hires to the state in the following classifications: Advanced Practice Nurse, Nurse Consultant, Nursing Supervisor, Compliance Nurse, Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, and Certified Nursing Assistant. Referral bonuses of $1,000 will be paid in quarterly installments over the first year of hire of the referred applicant. NOTE: This program is administered by the Department of Health and Social Services. The program may be terminated by the State at any time. Summary Statement The Nursing Supervisor ensures residents receive safe, compassionate, and high-quality care by overseeing staff nurses and Direct Support Professionals across day, evening, or overnight shifts. This role provides and evaluates direct nursing care; develops, implements, and reviews nursing care plans; and interacts with individuals, families, and community partners. The Nursing Supervisor serves as charge nurse, plans and assigns work, reviews and evaluates staff performance, and provides clinical oversight, training, and mentorship. Responsibilities also include preparing and submitting required records and reports, maintaining effective working relationships with the treatment team, and participating in quality assurance activities. The position may recommend hiring, discipline, and termination as needed. Scheduling is determined by seniority and operational needs, with options for self-scheduling and compressed schedules. Develops, implements and/or reviews nursing care plans. Maintains an effective working relationship with other members of the treatment team. Prepares and submits records, reports, evaluations and forms. Participates in and make recommendations regarding quality assurance activities. Job Requirements JOB REQUIREMENTS for Nursing Supervisor Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas: At least three years' experience as a Registered Nurse OR a Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing and at least two years' experience as a Registered Nurse OR a Master's degree or higher in Nursing and at least one year experience as a Registered Nurse. Possession of a Delaware Registered Nurse license OR multi-state compact license. Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through course work, academic training, training provided through an employer, or performing as a lead worker overseeing the work of others; OR supervising staff which may include planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others; OR supervising through subordinate supervisors a group of professional, technical, and clerical employees. Conditions of Hire All new hires are required to attend an in-person, statewide mandatory New Employee Orientation on their first day of employment. The session will be held at a designated location in either Kent or New Castle County. A satisfactory criminal background check is required and must be covered by the applicant, with an estimated cost of $85.00. Pre-employment drug testing is also required. Additionally, all new hires are required to complete a 2-Step TB/PPD test, which will be administered on their first day at the facility. This position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization) that has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other applicable terms and conditions of employment, in accordance with Title 29, Chapter 59 and Title 19, Chapter 13 and 16.This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement based on its individual terms.
