Keeps any necessary equipment in operating order and facilitating preventive maintenance when needed. Ensures compliance with healthcare regulations with scope of practice, HIPAA, and OSHA standards. Completes all required competencies and education to maintain skill level to provide safe patient care. Acts as a liaison between physician and patient, by providing support and comfort to patients and families during clinic visits and procedures as needed, including chaperoning during sensitive examinations. Demonstrates excellent customer service to include providing timely patient response and follow up by phone and electronic means. Manages patient expectations with clear explanations (i.e., informing patients about delays as appropriate) and effectively manages the providers' patient schedules. Assists patients with providing access to care with appointments, referrals, and providing necessary information. Assists with patient education per protocol and direct provider instruction to include directions in the after-visit summary within the electronic medical record. Exhibits knowledge of lab procedures to include specimen collection, phlebotomy, point of care testing, and use of ABN’s (if applicable in hired practice). Properly processes, packages, and sends specimens to correct laboratory. Obtains preauthorization when needed. Proficient in managing point of care logs and documenting point of care testing accurately in the electronic health record. Follows insurance carrier guidelines and Medicare regulations. Maintains a working knowledge of ICD9 and CPT coding and seeks assistance as needed. Obtains prior authorizations when needed. Schedules tests and specialist visits within network limitations. Supports productivity goals to maximize use of facility resources to meet patient demand. Maximizes physician visits so that productivity targets are met. Assists and contributes to meet quality measures for the organization. Responsible for dating all appropriate vials or bottles at time of initial opening and following pharmacy protocol on length of time they can be used. Responsible for weekly inspections of all medications to ensure all expired medications are removed. Responsible for verifying all current MARs are compared to new MARs at change over time and notifying the supervisor of any discrepancies. Responsible for removing all discontinued medication from med cart and giving it to the supervisor. Provide personal care to residents to include, but not limited to, bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence care, and eating, etc. Provide general nursing care to include, but not limited to, vital signs, temperatures, blood pressure, and weights. Document appropriate information in the daily log as required and notify supervisor of all concerns. Answer calls and assist residents with needs as assigned.
