Overview Advanced Practice Registerd Nurse (Nurse Midwife), Ft Campbell, KY About the Position: This position is located at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, Department of Obstetrics/Gynecology, Fort Campbell, Tennessee. Performs clinical duties Monday through Friday 0730-1600 and/or 12 hour labor and delivery shifts. Routinely scheduled for 80 hours every 2 weeks.This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Occupying a generous portion of the border between Kentucky and Tennessee, Fort Campbell supports the fourth largest military population in the Army (and the 7th largest in the Department of Defense). The Screaming Eagles of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), 5th Special Forces Group, and the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment all call this base home. The Sabalauski Air Assault School (famed for being the “10 toughest days in the Army”), the Pathfinder Course, Rappel Master, and FRIES/SPIES Master are just a few of the other schools and qualification courses available at Fort Campbell. A majority of Fort Campbell is located in Tennessee, but the post office that serves the base is just across the Kentucky border, giving on post residents and the installation itself the designation of being located in Kentucky. Clarksville, TN and Hopkinsville, KY are the two larger towns that serve the base. The base boasts modern facilities including a huge new commissary, parks, splash pads, a Starbucks, and updated housing. Clarksville is growing, but keeps a mindful eye on preserving its history and “small town” feel. It’s only about 40 minutes north of Nashville, and some areas between the two cities are gaining popularity for being “bedroom communities” for Nashville (ie. where you go to sleep). Collaborate with physicians regarding patient management, to include evaluating and revising therapeutic plans and managing high-risk, unstable, or extremely complex patients, including the intrapartum setting within scope of practice. Serve as project lead or associate in the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of obstetrics/gynecology healthcare. Perform and/or request laboratory, radiologic and other diagnostic and screening tests. Independently manages labor and childbirth in accordance with clinical privileges. Oversee compliance/adherence with the preventive health care needs of all patients visiting the obstetrics/gynecology clinic. Provide teaching to patients and their families regarding disease processes and diagnostic tests. Performs other duties as assigned. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. How you make a difference The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in patient care by contributing to the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Working under the supervision of RN(s), the LPN provides direction and guidance in patient education and activities that align with their education and demonstrated competencies. Key Responsibilities Under RN supervision, assesses patients' physical, psychological, and social dimensions in both the Health Care Unit and housing units, contributing to individualized treatment planning and consulting with RNs and staff as needed. Implements treatment programs directed by Health Care Practitioners, administering medications, including IV therapy (if certified), and performing diagnostic tests according to established protocols and procedures. Collaborates in controlled substance counts at the beginning of each shift, adhering to safety techniques, procedures, and standard precautions while responding to codes or health emergencies within standard guidelines. Assists in medical or minor surgical procedures, implements nutrition and therapeutic diet plans, and documents nursing encounters using SOAP charting, ensuring effective communication with nursing staff, physicians, and other relevant personnel. Attends mandatory staff meetings and training sessions, demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to policies and procedures in providing high-quality patient care. Qualifications & Requirements Education Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Experience Prefer a minimum of one (1) year clinic experience Licenses/Certifications Have and maintain current licensure as a Licensed Practical/Licensed Vocational Nurse within the state of employment.
