RESPONSIBILITIES/ ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1 Verifies daily staffing and redistribution, as necessary; 2 Collaborates with all charge nurses daily, to exchange information regarding resident care, resident condition and all matters affecting resident well-being (i.e. admissions, discharges, transfers, out of or within the building), makes recommendations regarding nursing process, and communicates concerns to supervisors of other departments; 3 Makes rounds, morning and night, as time allows, to assess residents condition, giving special attention to critically ill residents; 4 Ensures that the individual nursing care plan is followed for each resident; 5 Performs medication passes and/or direct resident care as needed; 6 Participates in resident care committee meetings; 7 Reinforces the training and orientation of nursing personnel and provides positive reinforcement; 8 Answers any/all emergencies throughout the shift (i.e., change of resident condition or pronouncement of death); 9 Assists in assuring a safe and sanitary environment for residents, employees, and visitors; 10 Assures that the building is secure during the evening and night hours by checking doors and alarms according to nursing facility protocols; 11 Reviews incident and investigative reports for accuracy and completeness; 12 Monitors meal service on the units and in the dining areas to identify issues requiring intervention and to assure resident meal satisfaction and nutritional adequacy; 13 Assists in development and implementation of nursing facility Quality Improvement Program; 14 Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights; 15 Performs other duties as requested. Documents pertinent information regarding patient's response to treatment and progression toward discharge goals in patient's chart. Completes Admission, Discharge, and Groups in electronic medical record. Seeks clarification of physician's orders that are unclear or inappropriate. Interprets clinical data and notifies the physician promptly if immediate changes in management are indicated. INDIRECT PATIENT CARE ACTIVITIES Participates in interdisciplinary patient care rounds by presenting findings on patients as it relates to admission/discharge, and groups on disease specific topics Applies principles of infection control and safety. BLS, ACLS, PALS, IV Therapy One year behavioral health experience preferred with a focus on admissions, discharges, and group management related to Depressive Disorders, and Self Harm behaviors. Clinical nursing skills for an experience behavioral health RN. Good oral and written communication skills. Good interpersonal skills. Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position. Education Graduation from accredited school of Nursing with BSN Required. Job Setting/Physical Demands Behavioral Health Service Units Frequently prolonged standing/walking. Protective clothing worn: face shield, gloves, impermeable gown when required for infection control protocol; otherwise, behavioral health dress code; presentable street clothes.
