Overview If you like caring for medical and surgical patients, our Progressive Care unit is looking for experienced bedside nurses or new graduates who will be mentored during their introduction to our unit. Adult hospitalists provide excellent 24/7 coverage and support to our nursing team. We have strong surgical support for orthopedic and general surgery which provides to the majority of our inpatient surgery patients. We offer competitive salaries, excellent benefits and flexibility. Responsibilities Supervises nursing personnel activities daily and participates in the delivery of general nursing duties. Administers prescribed medications and treatment following approved nursing procedures and physician order. Observes patients, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or physician of conditions and significant incidents. Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment and examinations of patients. Assesses patient vital signs to detect deviations from normal and determines patient progress. Has daily responsibility in areas of personnel assignments, supervises licensed and non-licensed personnel, patient placement, cost containment, patient and family education and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities Works under general supervision in preparing and maintaining the sterile operative area of the patient before, during, and after operation. Places equipment and supplies in OR according to surgeon's preference cards. Assists during surgery in a number of ways such as to don gowns and gloves, adjust surgical equipment, hand surgeon instruments, hold retractors and count sponges, needles, and instruments used during the operation. Keep surgeons preference card information current. Able to clean, decontaminate and sterilize surgical instruments and supplies. Cross trained to function adequately in Central Sterile and receiving and decontamination. Qualifications Work requires proficiency in the application of sterile procedures in an operating room setting. Requires graduation from a surgical technology program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation. Work requires immediate response to emergency procedures which requires individual to respond within thirty minutes to the Hospital, as well as have a phone.
