This position will conduct on-site surveys of providers, regulated by the Office of Health Care Quality, and determine their compliance with federal and/or state regulations. A nurse surveyor must possess excellent communication and writing skills, including the ability to articulate clinical findings in easily understood terms. Below are descriptions of the nurse surveyor's role in each unit: Federal Unit: A surveyor in this unit investigates complaints and conducts surveys in a variety of settings, such as hospitals, residential treatment centers, home health, hospice, dialysis, and ambulatory surgery centers. The surveyor usually works independently and occasionally with a team. The surveyor will be required to complete all training programs mandated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
