A School Nurse position is available for a summer session in Bangor, PA, offering a vital role in supporting student health and wellness. This contract assignment runs from July 6 to July 30, Monday through Thursday, with daily hours from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and requires onsite presence.
Responsibilities include assessing and managing student illnesses and injuries, providing first aid, and delivering preventive health services to promote physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being. The nurse will educate students, parents, and staff on health-related matters, maintain accurate health records, and contribute to a safe and healthy school environment.
Qualified candidates must hold a valid Pennsylvania nursing license (LPN or RN) and certification as an Educational Specialist from the Pennsylvania Department of Education. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. Current Red Cross CPR and First Aid Instructor certifications are required. Candidates with 35 years of nursing experience, especially in pediatrics or school nursing, are highly desirable.
Physical requirements include the ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, reach, communicate effectively through vision, hearing, and speech, safely lift or carry 1025 pounds, and independently navigate school facilities.
