About the "Department"

  • The Alpine Women's Centre is a comprehensive Obstetrics and Gynecology practice serving Montrose and surrounding counties.

Position Overview:

  • Provides full scope nurse-midwifery services for women. Includes clinic and on-call duties as delegated by the Director of Provider Practices. May be called upon to perform administrative tasks as delegated.

Essential Functions:

a) Direct provision of clinical care to AP, IP, PP, and GYN patients utilizing practice guidelines and protocols, to population which is approximately 50% Hispanic and >30% teen. Management of women with minor acute illness and stable chronic disease utilizing practice guidelines and collaboration or referral where needed.


b) May require non-clinical activities such as statistics collection, peer review, department representation, scheduling, childbirth education, or community outreach/education, as delegated by the director.


c) May require participation in setting up satellite clinics, and travel to and staffing of such clinics.


d) Participation in department meetings and issues, hospital OB committee, and maintenance of allied health staff privileges.


e) Establishment of positive working relationships with clinic staff, hospital staff, and physician consultants.


f) Support of hospital, department, and own professional development.


g) Participation in continuing education as required by medical staff by-laws and certifying body.


h) Other clinical duties as delegated by Director.

 

Qualifications & Skills:

a) Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nurse-midwifery with a Master's Degree in Nursing. Requires current Colorado RN licensure and advanced practice registration. Requires prescriptive authority and DEA registration, when eligible.


b) Training & Experience: Prefer previous hospital midwifery experience or extensive obstetric nursing experience. Requires current ACNM certification and participation in ACNM's Certificate Maintenance program. Requires current BLS certification. NRP certification within 9 months of hire.


c) Job Knowledge: History taking, physical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, patient counseling and education skills. Knowledge of GYN and obstetrical procedures, lab values, fetal/maternal assessment, and neonatal evaluation and resuscitation. Knowledge of scope and limits of practice, and ability to document thoroughly yet efficiently. Spanish speaking strongly preferred basic Spanish language skills essential. Basic computer skills essential.
