Job Summary
The Nursing Practice Coordinator role supports delivery of high-quality patient care and promoting best practices for nursing team members. This role will collaborate with various departments to develop, implement, and evaluate nursing policies, procedures, and standards. The Nurse Practice Coordinator will also serve as a resource for nursing staff, providing guidance, just-in-time training, and support to enhance nursing practice and professional development. They also act as a bridge between clinical education leadership and frontline nursing teams, ensuring consistent communication, quality improvement, and professional growth.Team members in the Nursing Practice Coordinator role must demonstrate and maintain clinical expertise in the specific area of healthcare in which they will provide education and training.
Essential Functions

Serve as a clinical practice resource and liaison for nursing staff by providing guidance on clinical procedures, protocols, standards, and evidence-based guidelines.
Deliver just in time training and practice reinforcement in response to policy changes, practice updates, quality data trends, root cause analyses, and drill or event debriefs.
Support the integration and implementation of new clinical practices, workflows, technologies, and equipment through interdisciplinary collaboration and frontline education.
Assist with facility level orientation and onboarding of new nursing team members by reinforcing clinical standards, workflows, and expectations for safe practice.
Support preceptor development at the facility level by reinforcing best practices in clinical teaching, coaching, and competency validation.
Actively participate in shared governance councils and facility initiatives, including Magnet activities, research, and professional practice projects, to promote nursing excellence and engagement.
Participate in quality, safety, and event reviews by analyzing data to identify variations or gaps in nursing practice and collaborating with leaders to develop and support action plans for improvement.
Collaborate with the Nursing Practice and Clinical Education teams to review, evaluate, and support clinical policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure alignment with evidence-based practice, regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and organizational goals.
Review regulatory education, certification, and competency validation compliance data provided by Clinical Education partners and collaborate with department leaders to address gaps and ensure ongoing compliance.
Maintain current knowledge of clinical best practices, regulatory standards, and professional guidelines relevant to the assigned practice area and apply this knowledge to support nursing practice advancement.
Serves as a role model and participates in educating and mentoring other members of the care team.
Practices safe, efficient use of supplies.
Attends department and organization meetings.
Completes annual and as needed compliance training for the specialty in which providing support.
Assumes responsibility for one’s own professional development and continuing education.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
Minimum Requirements
Education - Master's degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration
Experience - Three (3) years acute care nursing experience
In Lieu Of
In lieu of the master's degree requirement above, a BSN or bachelor’s degree may be considered if the applicant signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreeing to enroll in an accredited applicable master's degree program within one year and obtain the master's degree within two (2) years.
In lieu of bachelor's degree or master's degree requirements, will accept DNP or PhD in Nursing.
Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses
Holds a current RN compact/multistate license recognized by the NCSBN Compact State or is licensed to practice as an RN in the state the team member is working.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
May require life support certification or other specialty education/training depending on clinical area of assignment.
Specialty training such as arrhythmia, competency management systems, and electronic medical record systems - Preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to operate and support the use of equipment specific to the role, consistent with the specialty.
