Qualifications:

  • Required Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).

  • Certifications: Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.

L&D RN Position Summary The L&D RN provides nursing care for pregnant mothers beginning around the 16th week of pregnancy all the way through the immediate postpartum period. The L&D RN also provides care to the newborn immediately after delivery as well as care for families that experience a loss of pregnancy. The L&D RN is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating a plan of patient care utilizing ANA Standards and the Nursing Process. The registered nurse acts as a patient advocate. The registered nurse educates patients and families on significant self-care issues. The inventory, distribution/delivery of medications may be required. L&D RN Position Requirements Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Registered Nurse. Must hold a license in the state of permanent residency. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) PALS Electronic Fetal Monitoring, Neonatal Resuscitation, and obtain EFM certification within 2 years. L&D RN Work Schedule May be assigned to day, evening, or night shifts or a combination per departmental policy. Scheduled off at least three holidays per year. Required to work weekends per unit need. Expected to work overtime on occasion.
