Department Overview
The Pre-Procedure Assessment Center is a team working prior to hospital arrival with all procedural patients and families to ensure consistent, comprehensive preparation for surgery.
We are searching for a Nurse Practitioner to join our pre-surgical team. The pre-surgical team is led by APPs who care for surgical patients during their preoperative preparation and coordination for their upcoming surgery. The team covers numerous surgical specialties and partners closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the pre-surgical team to offer high quality, high value, specialized care. The pre-surgical team is an integral part of patients' pre-operative course.
The pre-surgical nurse practitioner role involves caring for patients before surgical procedures, including conducting comprehensive assessments and physicals, managing pre-operative testing, educating patients, and care coordination. Key duties include collaborating with the surgical team, optimizing patient readiness, managing pre-medication needs, and ensuring a smooth transition of care on the day of surgery.
Pre-surgical responsibilities
· Comprehensive assessments: Conducting thorough patient assessments and reviewing/completing medical histories.
· Pre-operative testing/care coordination: Ensuring all necessary tests and evaluations are completed before surgery.
· Patient education: Informing on how to prepare for day of surgery
· Collaboration: Working with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other staff to optimize patient readiness.
· Risk management: Identifying and addressing potential risks or concerns before surgery.
· Position involves rotating coverage at our surgery centers in St. Paul, Minneapolis, and Minnetonka.
· 0.8 FTE – 32 hours per week
· Monday – Friday – 8am-4:30pm and no weekends
Current MN RN/APRN License.
Graduate of an accredited Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program. Master’s Degree required; Doctorate preferred.
Nationally Board Certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with either the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
Current BLS certification required.
The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. Annual salaries displayed are based on full-time employment (40 standard hrs per week). Annual salaries for part-time positions will be prorated based on the employee’s scheduled weekly hours in relation to the full-time standard. When determining individual pay rates, we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, internal equity and organizational needs.
In addition to your salary, this position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night, weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
