NP Full-time

Provides medical services to patients in an ambulatory or a clinic setting. This role will include rounding/patient coverage in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit as well as outpatient clinics.

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8a-5p. Primarily working at 140th & Pacific clinic, but will travel to all clinic sites: East (555 N 30th), Maple (168th & Maple), and Lincoln (575 S 70th St).

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Provides individualized medical care to patients in the ambulatory clinic setting which includes collection of relevant patient history, physical and/or mental health assessment, evaluation, diagnosis and treatment.

  • Psychiatry Clinic Assignment: Provides psychiatric health services, education, counselling, and emotional support.

  • Demonstrates age specific competencies in the provision of care.

  • Orders necessary diagnostic tests relevant to patient condition and utilizes results to determine appropriate treatment for the patient.

  • Performs procedures such as I&D, splinting, suturing, or simple lesion (wart) removal, based on knowledge, skills and abilities, as applicable to clinical area.

  • Completes timely, thorough documentation of the patient visit in the electronic medical record.

  • Orders pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments indicated in management of the acute illness or health condition.

  • Responds to onsite emergencies and provides prompt, and appropriate care until EMS arrives.

  • Provides relevant education and discharge instructions to the patient/family related to the acute presenting illness or health condition and need for follow-up.

  • Consults with physician and hospitalists as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree in nursing with previous clinical experience in a health care setting required.

  • Licensed as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in the State of Nebraska required.

  • Psychiatry Clinic assignment: ANCC certification (or eligibility to take exam) as a Psychiatric mental health Nurse Practitioner required.

  • Experience using an electronic medical record required.

  • CPR certification required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of three years of experience in a primary care/ambulatory care/urgent care preferred; for the Same Day Pediatrics Clinic, minimum of three years of APRN experience in an ambulatory and/or urgent care preferred.

This role requires proficiency in flight and ambulance treatment modalities, altitude physiology, and emergency procedures. Utilizing an advanced nursing process, the NNP will assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, while accurately documenting patient responses and outcomes. This position requires proficiency in neonatal pathophysiology and technical skills, including lab and x-ray interpretation, intubation, line placement, thoracentesis, thoracotomy, and intraosseous access. In collaboration with physicians and referral teams, the NNP must demonstrate strong leadership through nursing judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities. As an advocate for patients and families, the NNP must maintain professional conduct and communication. Additionally, knowledge of healthcare economics is necessary to ensure cost-effective resource utilization. Education Qualifications Education as required by Department of Health and Human Services-Regulation and Licensure Credentialing Division as represented by APRN licensure in the State of Nebraska Required Work Experience Minimum 3 years’ experience in Critical Care Required and Experience can be satisfied as a Critical Care RN, Critical Care APRN, or combination of both Required and Previous Advanced Practice Provider experience in pediatrics Preferred Licenses and Certifications Current and valid unrestricted Nebraska state licensure (e.g., APRN, PA, RN) Required and BCLS - Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association Required and PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 180 Days Required and NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation within 180 Days Required and NNP-BC - Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Board Certified Required or CPNP-AC - Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner - Acute Care Upon Hire Required and DEA License within 30 Days Required Satisfy all relevant criteria and qualifications outlined in the Medical Staff Policy on Allied Health Professional, required to be credentialed. About The Team The Critical Care Transport team at Children’s Hospital & Medical Center is available 24 hours a day to provide state-of-the-art care and transportation to pediatric patients ranging from extreme prematurity through adolescence. We are the only team in Nebraska specializing in the stabilization and care of neonatal and pediatric patients. Transportation is available by a dedicated ambulance, helicopter, or fixed-wing plane, allowing us to provide extended coverage to patients throughout the region to any higher level of care.
