Definitions
The Nurse Manager performs nursing duties in accordance with hospital policy/procedure and supervises other nursing personnel who are responsible for patient care. The Nurse Manager assumes 24 hour responsibility for the management of patient care and the personnel who are assigned to that area. This nurse has an in depth knowledge of nursing practice/management and takes responsibility for the development and nurturing of self. This position will include accountability for maintaining high standards of patient care and nursing practice for the entire unit. The Nurse Manager is responsible and accountable for prescribing, delegating and coordinating the nursing care provided on the unit utilizing the nursing process. The position is limited to 1 per nursing unit.
Required Knowledge & Skills
Education: See License/Certification Requirements
Experience: Three years of related experience. Requires working knowledge of specialized practices, equipment, and procedures.

GEORGIA REGISTERED NURSE LICENSE OR MULTISTATE NURSING LICENSE
Supervision
The Nurse Manager supervises and manages nursing staff on the nursing unit. The Nurse Manager serves as a resource person for Staff Nurses, Nursing Supervisors and other departments. Instructs employees and corrects their work as an active participant in staff development. Assumes responsibility for quality and quantity of work, costs, and resources for patient care delivery and personnel.
