A few details about the role:

  • Direct nursing services to all residents on assigned neighborhood or program.
  • Provides hands-on/ on-the-job training to newly hired team members. Provides skill set retraining as assigned.
  • Oversee physician orders, verify all orders received are transcribed accurately onto the electronic record system and treatment plan, administer medications, and provide treatments according to orders.
  • Supervise and provide leadership and discipline to clinical and non-clinical team members.
  • Participate with members of the interdisciplinary team to review, plan, coordinate and evaluate resident’s care.
  • Document the resident’s condition and nursing needs accurately and in a timely manner. Reports pertinent observations and reactions regarding residents in a timely manner.
  • Execute treatments as necessary while document status and observes reactions to medications and treatments.
  • Coordinate admissions, discharges, and transfers to deliver quality customer service.
  • Plan resident admission as ordered by physician, perform assessment, verify orders with physician, and notify pharmacy, laboratory, and other departments, as necessary.
  • Introduce an accurate and thorough report to the on-coming shift to ensure the continuity of maximum resident care.

Professional Flight Nurse (Casual) - Cranberry, PA

The UPMC Center for Emergency Medicine is looking to hire a Casual Flight Nurse to support MedEvac 3, located in Cranberry, PA. Schedule: 24-hour shifts Weekends and holidays required Purpose: The Professional Flight Nurse functions as a member of the critical care transport team and is responsible for the care of critically ill or injured patients transported by the STAT MedEvac system. Responsibilities include patient care incorporating assessment, stabilization, and intervention techniques consistent with standards and protocols approved by the Medical Director. The Flight Nurse is expected to execute independent judgment in order to deliver appropriate care that is consistent with the clinical protocols, when contact with a medical command physician is not possible. The Flight Nurse functions as a part of a team and shares responsibility for the team's conduct. The Flight Nurse fulfills education and experiential requirements as established by the STAT MedEvac Medical Director, and performs other duties as assigned. Supports and upholds the mission, goals, and objectives, of the STAT MedEvac system at all times. Responsibilities: Provide advanced life support to critically ill or injured patients in adherence with established protocols and standards of care; assessing online medical command or other resources when appropriate. Participates in developing and completing research projects. Reflects a positive attitude to the customer in a high stress environment at all times, with a clear understanding of who the customer is. Performs all assigned duties, including daily, weekly, monthly, or other duties assigned by the base site manager, including (but not limited to): Performs daily equipment check (vehicle, medications). Ensures crew is logged onto computer duty roster. Participates in shift report from off going crew. Equipment checks. Transport log. Medication log. Demonstrates skills, competencies, and judgment necessary to provide patient care in any environment; using educational resources that are required or made available. Three years clinical experience in critical care and/or emergency department or RN applicants who have two years of experience and currently function as an RN in one of the UPMC Health System's tertiary critical care units or emergency departments while simultaneously have enrolled and met the clinical and operational objectives of the CEM STAT MedEvac two-year Mentor Program. RN applicants who have two years of experience and functioned previously as a Flight/Critical Care Transport Paramedic may be considered based on assessment of his/her role as a paramedic, years in the role and approval of a transition plan by the Medical Director (in accordance to CAMTS requirements).Successful completion of a pre-employment physical exam that includes a maximum height/weight restriction of 6-2 and less than or equal to 210 pounds, fitness for duty physical exam, hearing evaluation, and be declared fit for duty by the Medical Director. Must be eligible to receive medical command authorization by the Medical Director, have reliable transportation, and be willing to travel to any STAT MedEvac base site as assigned. Must be able to successfully complete the prescribed orientation program, including classroom, clinical rotations, educational competencies, and on the job flight training.
