Join Our Team as an RN Navigator for Hematology Oncology at Schwarz Cancer Center, IU North in Carmel, IN!
Are you passionate about supporting patients with blood disorders and cancer, and guiding their families through complex treatment journeys? We’re seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse Navigator to work closely with our multidisciplinary Hematology/Oncology team at Schwarz Cancer Center. This role provides personalized care coordination, education, and emotional support to help patients and their families navigate treatment options, appointments, and care plans.
This position is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with no weekends, holidays, nights, or call. After onboarding and training, one remote workday per week may be permitted. Role Overview
Guided by our core values of Compassion, Team, Excellence, and Purpose, the Hematology/Oncology RN Navigator at Schwarz Cancer Center will collaborate with our cancer care team to coordinate and manage the care needs of patients with blood disorders and cancer. You will develop personalized care plans, provide education, and serve as a primary point of contact for families and healthcare providers. Strong communication, organizational skills, and a compassionate approach are essential to support patients and their families effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate care across all phases of treatment, including diagnosis, therapy, and survivorship
- Offer education and emotional support tailored to hematology/oncology patients and their families
- Assist providers and team members in outpatient clinics and treatment settings
- Support outpatient procedures, including lab collections, medication administration, and specimen handling
- Facilitate medication management and patient education
- Support prior authorizations for medications and treatments
- Prepare documentation and assist with patient charting for new and follow-up visits
- Collect data, enter orders, and assist during high-volume clinic days
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and team meetings
- Engage in daily huddles and organizational committees focused on patient care and process improvement
Qualifications:
- Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN).
- Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
- Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
- 3-5 years of experience preferred.
- Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
- Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
- Specialty certifications may be required per unit/department specialty in accordance with the department provision of care.
- Requires knowledge of personal computers using various types of word processing and database software.
- Requires clinical work experience, medical terminology.
- Requires understanding of medical record requirements, regulations and policies.
- Oncology experience is a plus but not required.
