RN Registered Nurse Progressive Care Unit Nights

Position Summary

Progressive Care Unit – Now Open at Walker Hospital!

 

We're excited to introduce our brand-new Progressive Care Unit at Walker Hospital. With a higher acuity level than acute care and a supportive 4:1 nurse-to-patient ratio, this unit is designed to provide exceptional, patient-centered care.

 

We’re seeking experienced RNs with backgrounds in Critical Care or Progressive Care who are passionate about advancing their skills and delivering excellent care in a collaborative environment.

 

Schedule Details: Night shift. Three 12 hour shifts a week. Weekend requirement is every other weekend. 

Responsibilities

  • Provides advanced nursing care for patients requiring complex assessments, therapies, and high-intensity interventions.

  • Analyzes assessment data to anticipate changes and respond quickly to evolving patient conditions.

  • Prioritizes critical information to take immediate, evidence-based, patient-focused action.

  • Monitors and manages specialized equipment and interprets data such as cardiac rhythms and hemodynamic pressures.

  • Responds to emergencies and life-threatening situations according to established protocols and standards of care.

  • Assesses patient needs, develops and evaluates individualized care plans, and advocates for patients and families.

  • Collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams while coordinating and delegating patient care activities.

  • Documents care accurately and maintains clinical competency while modeling professionalism and supporting departmental goals.

Qualifications

Education/Training  

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing. Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Baptist Health unit/department. 

 

Licensure/Certification  

  • Maintains current State of Alabama RN license.  
  • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.  

 

Experience  

  • 1 year experience required unless approved by AVP level or above. 
  • Experience in critical care or progressive care is highly preferred.
