Key Qualifications:

What You’ll Do:
  • Provide a variety of diagnostic testing of patients
  • Assist in improving the overall status of patients.
  • Provide accurate laboratory results for the medical staff.
  • Promote safety, quality care for all patients.
  • Demonstrate proper performance of skills reflected and validated by the lab tech competency checklist.
  • Perform diagnostic tests in accordance with the lab policies and procedures.
  • Perform quality control, maintenance, and proficiency testing on all laboratory equipment and test kits in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations.
  • Perform a variety of lab tests based on laboratory scope of service.
  • Document and maintain accurate records on all laboratory equipment and patient specimens and results.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures set forth by the facility and imposed by all regulatory organizations.
  • Maintain a quality, clean work environment in the lab setting.
  • Ensure your personal appearance is pristine while wearing company ID while onsite.
  • Responsible for complying with all compliance standards including annual MedTrainer competencies, and annual skill fair competencies.
  • Remain flexible in staffing patterns and staffing resolutions when conflict arises.
  • Participates in the team environment.
  • Demonstrate flexibility when changes in assignments are necessary to promote safe patient care.
  • Compliance with all attendance standards.
  • Promote quality lab reporting in accordance with state, federal, CLIA, and COLA regulations.
  • Remains compliant with HIPAA, OSHA, and EMTALA regulations
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and adhere to regulations and facility policies and procedures pertaining to safety, emergency preparedness, infection control, OSHA, fire safety and hazardous materials.


Schedule:
  • 12-hour PRN shifts, weekend availability, including holidays.

Emergency Room Technician (PRN)

POSITION SUMMARY The Emergency Room Tech assists and supports the nursing and medical staff of the Emergency Department, to perform patient care, and environmental tasks, and manage supplies and equipment to ensure the patient-focused, cost-effective operation of the department. The Emergency Room Tech will also be responsible for assisting the RN with performing education and observing chemical tests on patients’ or control specimens by clinical staff using the lab and correctly records appropriate results and uses and maintains all laboratory equipment correctly. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Assists the RNs and physicians in providing technical care of the patients by: Documenting vital signs, performing phlebotomy and IV starts, performing EKGs, transporting patients, placing p atient on cardiac and vital sign monitors, performing Point of Care Testing, performing wound care, and obtaining lab specimens and documents all care/procedures provided Performs urine drug screens and/or breathalyzer tests, once checked off or trained Assists the physician with physical exams, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures Applies a variety of orthopedic splints and fits patients for crutches Ensure that patient care areas, storage rooms, and equipment are clean and maintained Cleans equipment and workspace (including patient rooms, restrooms, waiting room, and nurse’s station) Ensure that there is a sufficient amount of lab supplies, linens, stock room supplies Assists with unloading supplies into Emergency Center Perform POC and QC lab testing Perform daily check of ABC equipment in each room Maintain temperature logs in Pharmacy and Lab Responsible for changing out Sharp’s containers Recognizes equipment malfunctions and refers for repair Perform patient care as directed by nursing or medical staff, documenting on the medical record Ensure an adequate supply of equipment needed for patient care and is responsible for stocking items such as: linens, wall mounts, thermometer probes and Otoscope probes, upper and lower drawers, vital sign machine, IV carts, ortho carts, urine cups and wipes, triage wound supplies, nourishment counter, patient and waiting room refrigerators Perform quality control procedures and maintain records on these checks Perform calibrations in compliance with manufacturer’s requirements Ensures proficiency testing specimens are done at each center in compliance with policy Oversees documentation of temperatures/humidity checks Monitors appropriate send out lab procedures Maintains current appropriate and needed policies and procedures Demonstrate knowledge of new testing methods, products and instrumentation; remain informed on all current technologies Maintain inventory of necessary supplies and submit orders for restocking as needed Demonstrate the values to team concept on a consistent basis Interact professionally with all department members, physicians, staff, administration and the Director of Clinical Laboratory Responsible for documenting correct information for compliance purposes.
