Position Summary: 

Performs clinical duties in physician practices under the direction of the practice manager and physicians. Responsible for rooming patients, obtaining and documenting vital signs, administering injections and medications, performing EKGs and other point of care testing and treatments, triaging phone calls and electronic messages, and performing check out duties. Responsible for promoting teamwork with all members of the healthcare team. Performs duties in a manner consistent with St. Luke’s mission and values.  

 

Education, Experience, & Licensing Requirements:   

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent  

Experience: Previous medical assistant experience in vital sign accuracy, EKGs, medication administration, and immunizations

May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. Essential Functions Register patients, verify insurance, and process co-pays. Schedule appointments and coordinate specialist referrals. Answer patient inquiries and update them on care status. Inform staff of patient flow and assist with patient preparation. Record medical history, take vitals, and escalate critical cases. Perform point-of-care testing (e.g., flu, strep, ECG). Perform phlebotomy and administer injections as needed. Maintain exam rooms, stock supplies, and manage inventory. Update medical records and scan documents. Answer phone calls and handle mail.
