Pre/Post Cath Lab Registered Nurse (RN) - Registry

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Responsible for assessing and preparing patients for Cardiac Cath, Pacemaker Implant, Structural Heart and IR procedures. Recovers, monitors and cares for post cardiac catheterization, post cardiac intervention, post peripheral angiography/intervention, post pacemaker and post structural heart procedure patients. Receives direction from: Providers, Anesthesia providers, Nurse Manager, Cath Lab Manager/Director and Charge Nurse. Gives direction to: LPN, C.N.A

EDUCATION:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program, required. 
  • Successful completion of a 12 Lead EKG course

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3 years of continuous direct patient care, required. 
  • Telemetry experience. 

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • BLS, required. 
  • ACLS, required. 
  • MT RN licensure, required. 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of Pre-Op/PACU delivery standards of care.
  • Knowledge of ASPAN standards/requirements
  • knowledge of laws and regulations affecting the organization. 
  • Know the definitions of fundamental computer terms related to applications, software and desktop PC's. 
  • Know how to open, read, and respond to email. 
  • Know how to manage electronic files. 
  • Know how to print electronic documents and reports. 
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and collaborative skills. 
  • Demonstrates the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, be accurate and handle constantly changing situations. 
  • Demonstrates the ability to deal with a variety of people, deal with stressful situations and handle conflict. 
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively. 
  • Ability to manipulate various types of electronic and clinical equipment, adjust and troubleshoot monitoring equipment, IV infusions and computer equipment. 
  • Ability to operate specialty equipment related to area of expertise and to perform computer tasks at a "user" level. 
  • Work in a temperature-controlled environment. 
  • Potential contact with chemicals, blood borne pathogens and exposure to infectious disease. 
  • Able to lift 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques several times during shift. 
  • Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions in the Stress Lab.
