Position Summary


The Health Center Training Manager at Planned Parenthood of Southern New England oversees training for non-licensed staff across 15 health centers in Connecticut and Rhode Island. Reporting to the Senior Director of Leadership Development and Training, this role leads the Health Center Staff Training Team, collaborates with teams across the affiliate, and designs and delivers training programs for patient-facing staff. Success in this position requires strong initiative, self-direction, and the ability to independently identify priorities, solve problems, and deliver high-quality results on time

Essential Functions
  • Manages all functions related to training for non-licensed health center staff
  • Supervises and mentors a team of trainers who are committed to developing skill-based training for health center staff
  • Recommends and implements the professional development of Training Department staff including training design, clinical operations, and process improvement
  • Implements and communicates processes with operations and clinical leadership to provide feedback regarding non-licensed staff’s ability to perform job functions
  • Engages in all phases of the training development cycle to deliver skills-based content including in-person and virtual, with groups, and in one-on-one settings.
  • Collaborates with EHR teams to develop EHR and related clinical documentation system trainings
  • Maintains a cross-agency collaboration in the development of trainings, including attending meetings, participating in work groups, and supporting the implementation of changes across the system
  • Maintains close relationships and communication with health center managers, clinicians, clinical operations, clinical care leadership, and Equity & Organizational Culture teams
  • Engaged in providing direct patient care during the training and coaching process and is compliant with all health center policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates closely and effectively with Equity & Organizational Culture, and clinical services to provide an excellent on-boarding experience
  • Manages metrics to ensure training department is meeting relevant goals
  • Maintains working knowledge of relevant clinical services policies, protocols and procedures for center operations to process patients through their health care visits
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of the database to track training including CALS for clinical and administrative staff
  • Assures the integrity of the health center training program by monitoring the fidelity of training programs and processes
  • Completes all responsibilities according to established protocols, policies and standard practices in the areas of customer service, quality assurance and regulatory compliance programs
  • Develops systems to assure the ongoing oversight of training, development, and compliance processes.
  • Supports the agency’s mission and all of the sexual and reproductive health services offered including family planning services, health screenings, testing and treatment of STI’s, birth control methods, gender affirming care, and abortion services
  • Leads and participates in special projects and other duties as assigned


Key Requirements
  • Demonstrated clinical proficiency, organizational, analytical, leadership and interpersonal communication skills required. Willingness to function as a role model, health center team member, and trainer.
  • Must possess capacity to learn software programs required for role, access electronic communications, electronic health records, and utilize a variety of data management programs, Epic experience a plus.
  • Skilled in program planning, project management, curriculum development, instructional design, and training and facilitation. Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical documentation, tasks, processes, and workflow
  • Assumes ownership of assigned projects from concept to completion with limited oversight.
  • Experience working directly with Physicians, Advanced Practitioners, and non-licensed personnel
  • Data-related skills including gathering, managing, and interpreting in addition to analyzing and presenting data to support the decision-making processes both collaboratively and independently
  • Knowledge of healthcare operations, technologies, regulatory matters, HIPAA (Health Information Portability & Accountability Act), Meaningful Use, and CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Administration)
  • Demonstrates an ability to effectively work across difference.

Occasionally provide direct patient care when required to ensure patient care needs are met or to demonstrate clinical skills for staff. Team Leadership & Development: Manage a team of healthcare professionals, including RNs, LVNs, MAs, and mixologists, across multiple clinic locations. Lead in the interviewing and hiring process of new team employees. Conduct regular performance reviews, coaching sessions, and 1:1s to ensure the team is supported, collaborating effectively, and meeting individual & organizational expectations. Provide leadership and training in fostering a collaborative and positive team culture, encouraging continuous learning and improvement. Operational Management: Oversee the daily operations of multiple ambulatory infusion clinics, ensuring efficient workflows and patient care delivery. Monitor clinic schedules, staffing, and resource allocation to optimize safety, productivity and patient experience. Maintain compliance with organizational standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. Track and analyze clinic performance data, ensuring that key metrics (e.g., patient satisfaction, clinical outcomes, operational efficiency) are consistently met. Develop and implement strategies to improve clinic performance and patient care delivery. Perform audits of inventory management and supplies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Quality Assurance and Compliance: Monitor and maintain compliance with regulatory standards, polices, and procedures. Assist with the implementation of quality improvement initiatives. Lead the preparation efforts and assist in day of activities or regulatory audits and accreditation site surveys. Conduct on-site visits to each of the clinics at least once a month to observe workflows, meet with team members one on one, and provide on-the-ground support. Offer real-time coaching and mentoring to staff, with a focus on continuous process improvement and enhancing patient care. QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team. Ability to manage complex clinical and operational issues in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities. Keen assessment and monitoring skills; ability to identify medication reactions quickly. Skilled at performing intravenous catheter placement and monitoring for signs and symptoms of infusion related complications. Competent in the care, use, and maintenance of central lines. Able to demonstrate infection control precautions and sterile technique. Possess knowledge of IV medications, biologics, fluids, and blood components. Skilled in drawing labs using aseptic technique. Ability to engage effectively in partnership with referring providers, deescalate challenging patient situations, and respond to grievances assuring the highest level of service to our partners and patients. Strong computer skills, including word processing, efficient use of the internet and email, and experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR). EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Master’s degree in Nursing (NP) from an accredited program. Current Nurse Practitioner licensure in the state(s) of practice. Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, preferably in infusion therapy or related specialty. 2 years in healthcare leadership or management role preferred. Proven experience working with, influencing, and managing individuals with different licenses and scope of practice. Basic Life Support (BLS) required American Academy of Nurse Practitioner Certified Board (AANPCB) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) required
