  • Maintains a safe environment and follows the Infant Security and Abduction Policy.
  • Assists nurses with patient transportation and other patient-care tasks.
  • Cross-trains as a unit secretary; covers the front desk, answers call systems/phones and monitors infant security.
  • Discontinues Foley catheters and medication locks as directed by the RN.
  • Discharges patients as needed to support L&D transfers.
  • Assists with transferring patients to outside facilities by obtaining medical records; monitors infection-control practices of visitors and support staff.
  • Prepares the unit and patient rooms for admissions, transfers, and post-operative patients.
  • Uses proper body mechanics when positioning, lifting, turning, and ambulating patients.
  • Reports changes in patient condition or behavior to the nurse promptly.
  • Provides safe care to newborn, adolescent, and adult patients.
  • Accurately takes and records vital signs in the patient record.
  • Distributes water and records intake and output as needed.
  • Weighs patients; records weights and notifies the nurse of changes.
  • Performs patient rounds at least every two hours.
  • Assists the nurse with post-mortem care.
  • Provides patient care as directed by the licensed nurse, including enemas, sitz baths, blood glucose monitoring, and simple dressing changes.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

·         State of Florida Nursing Assistant Certification Preferred

·         BLS Certification Required

·         1 year of experience preferred

·         High School Diploma preferred
