Responsibilities
Schedule: Mon-Sun, 14/12 hour shifts per 28 days. Shift rotation of 3 months day shift and 3 months night shift. On-Call: 2 days of call per 28 day cycle with the possibility of working up to the full 12 hours if called in. 6:45 a.m. - 7:15 p.m. (Day Shift) or 6:45 p.m. - 7:15 a.m. (Night Shift)
The duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness.
- Rotate between day and night shifts on either of the Medical Surgical Units in David Grant Medical Center (4W or 3C).
- Document patient care accurately into Electronic Health Record of all patient care activity in accordance with facility requirements.
- Work under the leadership of the RN staff, shift leaders, charge nurses, and the unit Flight Commander.
- Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the MTF.
- Perform physical exam and health histories under RN guidance.
- Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.
- Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions.
- Ability to synthesize data from a variety of sources and make appropriate clinical decisions.
- Skilled in setting up, operating, and monitoring specialized medical equipment such as cardiac monitoring devices, vital signs, EKG units, oxygen analyzers, nebulizers, and other unit specific equipment.
- Assists with patient admissions, discharges, unit specific medication administration, and other duties within the scope of practice of the LPVN.
- Participates in the orientation and training of newly assigned personnel, as appropriate.
- Provides relevant and timely information to these groups and assists with decision-making and process improvement. Participates in customer service initiatives, and medical readiness activities, designed to enhance health services.
- Ensures a safe work environment, employee safe work habits and patient safety IAW regulatory agencies, infection control policies, and process improvement initiatives.
- Maintains current mandatory training and annual training updates that are required of members on the unit.
- Report any problems or issues on the unit to the Flight Commander.
- Completes any assignments from the unit management within given time frames, adapts to schedule changes and changes to work assignments when necessary.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:* Education: Licensed Practical/Licensed Vocational Nurse degree, completion of high school. Graduate from an accredited professional nursing educational program.
* Experience: Two years of experience in health care as identified in the TO after graduation.
* Licensure/Registration:Current, full, active and unrestricted license as a practical or vocational nurse.
* Life Support Certification: Possess a current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
* Security: Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance. Pay Scale: $31.00 - $45.00 per hour, to be determined based on qualifications, experience, and location.Related Jobs
