The Quality Nurse is responsible for conducting concurrent and retrospective reviews of medical records for documentation that supports standards of care that meet best practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Data Abstraction and Management
- Assists with identification, collection and analysis of performance improvement measurement data
- Works collaboratively with all clinical departments for core measure abstracting, preparation of reports for medical staff committees and other quality measures
- Educates the clinical staff and physicians on the required documentation for core measures and other quality improvement initiatives as needed and/or requested
- Works with the quality team to review and assess clinically certified programs such as STEMI and stroke to assure maintenance with current standards and guidelines
- Communicates findings from reviews with the quality team
- Maintains data dashboards
General Administrative Duties
- Provides reports as directed or requested to keep leadership informed of data trends and compliance with benchmark standards
- Attends trainings and meetings as needed and/or requested
- Participates in regulatory accreditation preparation and coordination as needed and/or requested
- Assists quality/risk management leadership personnel with project tasks as needed and/or requested
- Any and other duties as assigned
Education: Practical Nursing degree required. Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
License/Certification: either LPN or RN nursing license required.
Experience: 3 years clinical hospital experience required.
Additional Experience Preferred
Requires a sound knowledge of the medical record and applicable clinical workflow. Knowledge of core measure requirements. Experience in IQR, OQR, IPFQR, and/or other quality reporting programs that utilize core measures. Attention to detail and follow- up is necessary. Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, hospital staff and physicians. Must be able to work independently
